Maybe you can solve a mystery for me! Here is one of my favorite videos ..
I've spent some time noodling over WHERE it was filmed! Thinking ... maybe on the Hudson River just north of New York City. Maybe some tony place in the Adirondacks, Finger Lakes,or Catskills. But right around 1:10 there is a very characteristic bridge ... same bridge I think I see in Love it or List it Too and it looks exactly like it. Do you recognize the landmarks?
BTW ...all of those people, having more fun than I ever had ... definitely NOT in my experience! But it sure looks nice!

Well, St Vincent de Paul and Habitat for Humanity came by yesterday and picked up some boxes of household items and a bunch of boxes of leftover flooring and a big leftover bookcase. It was hard prying some cherished junk out of dear daughter's hands, but necessary to help organize her room. Better yet, the leftover flooring was taking up a lot of garage space and the leftover bookcase was taking up a lot of office space, and I hope with that experience hubby will get behind the idea of getting rid of even more "big stuff".
Today, I hope I'm going to be able to be entirely domestic and housewifely. No going to chase after insurances (still have one BIG problem to solve) and financial institutions or help with house repair or line up donations or sell our car or honcho the gardening or contemplate geopolitical events or redesign our laundry or manage our prescriptions any of that stuff.
Today, I hope to just make some green chili salsa (several kinds of green peppers, a bunch of cilantro, onion, garlic, lime or lemon juice, and salt; blenderized), cook dinner (baked tofu and stir fry) and have enuf time to do it so we're not eating at 8 or 9PM, and just kind of recoup and regroup from being pulled in a dozen different directions. Oh, and buy that tree! That's the hope, anyway!

Another step forward in the quest for better sleep and better health.
I accidently discovered that dark chocolate helps me sleep better. The reason may be in the theobromine found in chocolate which is very similar to the theophylline in anti-asthma medications.
I'm already on anti asthma meds, I thought it was being well controlled but I may have been having subtle attacks at night which may account for the feelings of breathlessness that I've been having. Also switched from budesonide back to good old-fashioned Flonase, which seems to do a MUCH better job of controlling horrible stuffiness.
This was the second morning in three days that I woke up feeling well rested and ... comfortable! I haven't consistently felt that way in years. Let's see if the trend continues!

My day of simple domesticity went so well today, I think I'll have another! Didn't manage to buy the tree, but I DID manage to make a big bunch of green chili salsa, most of which went into the freezer for later. The recipe is pretty flexible, but today I used 9 anaheim chiles, 6 jalapenos, 1 bell pepper, 1 medium onion, about 8 med cloves garlic, juice of 3 limes, 1 1/2 t salt and an entire big bunch of cilantro, blenderized. Back in the day when I could taste, I thought it was pretty good and hubby likes it a lot. Its a good marinade; it makes a good start for Indian cooking with added spices (vegetable curry, palak paneer), and of course it elevates burritos and nachos with a fresh tangy taste. It's kind of a pain in the neck to make bc it requires so much vegetable prep but is so worth it!

Hi Sig. Looking at the scenery I thought it was one of the lakes here in BC BUT when I saw the bridge I KNEW it wasn't filmed in BC. There are no bridges in BC that look like that. So, I went and looked it up. It was filmed in Washington State and little into Oregon. That bridge is in Washington State.

Tree is now decorated and found my Star Trek and Star Wars ornaments in my storage room. Worf, Captain Sisko and Chewbacca. Also have one of Voyager but I don't know where I put it. Hope I find it again and put it safe somewhere for next year.
My tree is artificial as I have no way of getting rid of a real one.

KIKI- fascinating map! What I find really interesting is a north polar view, where you can see "lobes" of air masses extending towards the temperate zones. Quite often five or six lobes.

Yeah - I saw some weather-news about your wind - and I looked at the wind-map, and the wind-map doesn't seem to get down to details, like the area between Vancouver Island and the mainland. I guess I'll know now that it's not as particular as I thought.
But it DOES look like your wind has died down, so - good news for that.

Well, dang. I'm a bit bummed out. I had a Christmas decoration with sentimental value that I can't immediately find. Unfortunately I've spent the last number of years in a haze of pain and fatigue, not really doing anything for Christmas except whatever I could manage with family, and I may have done things in an effort to manage that I don't remember now. I can't imagine that I would have gotten rid of it. But you never know ...
I have a LOT to catch up on now that I'm retired. I'm still working on it (though not nearly with the energy of anybody here, I think!). I have almost everything in the works at this point, with one huge exception that's causing me stress when I consider how things might be wrong, and one more minor but still important exception ... but I'm getting to the end of cleaning up what I call 'disasters', and getting everything current.
I hope by next year, when I'm caught up, and have some time, I'll have found that item, and next year will celebrate Christmas complete, present and past.
