Supreme Court ruling pulls rug out from under article of impeachment

Well, the headline is a bit over-stated.

That is Alan Dershowitz, OJ Simpson's defense lawyer's opinion. Defending rich and guilty criminals is his hobby.

See the article: ‘What Happened to Alan Dershowitz?’
How a liberal Harvard professor became Trump’s most distinguished defender on TV, freaked out his friends and got the legal world up in arms.

My favorite Dershowitz quote: "The defendant wants to hide the truth because he's generally guilty. The defense attorney's job is to make sure the jury does not arrive at that truth."

See T.

Take a lesson from Second here. Does it look like he's celebrating anything?

He knows that GOP controlled Senate vote is going to go the exact opposite way as the Dem controlled House vote went tonight.

He's so sure of it that he was already quoting articles blaming it on the white patriarchy.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Did anybody else see the face that Skeletor made in between the 1st and 2nd votes where she was trying her best to hide the smarmy cunt grin that would make Seth Meyer blush that was met immediately with a chorus of boos?

Trust me, if you haven't you will. There will be a lot of memes in the coming weeks using it.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

That is Alan Dershowitz ...

Was he right? Did this indeed get put on the Supreme Court calendar somewhere?

If he WAS right - why do YOU care who you get your facts from?

Or is this just another one of your attempted trolling derailments of - yanno - actual discussion about - yanno - actual facts?

FLIES SHIT.

1kiki, did you even understand the argument the article made, which was that every subpoena by the House, not just the ones to clients that Dershowitz is defending, must go to the Supreme Court first or else the subpoena is unconstitutional? It is a completely insane Dershowitz fantasy/idea, but you bought that idea as if it had weight in the real world: "That second article of impeachment charges President Trump with obstruction of Congress for refusing to comply with the congressional subpoenas in the absence of a final court order. In so charging him, the House Judiciary Committee has arrogated to itself the power to decide the validity of subpoenas, and the power to determine whether claims of executive privilege must be recognized, both authorities that properly belong with the judicial branch of our government, not the legislative branch. The House of Representatives will do likewise, when it votes to approve the articles, as the chamber is expected to do so Wednesday."

"The defendant wants to hide the truth because he's generally guilty. The defense attorney's job is to make sure the jury does not arrive at that truth." - Alan Dershowitz

Did you understand I didn't quote the article extensively because I wasn't arguing Dershowitz's POV? Do you understand, as I understand, that there's a difference between whatever irrelevant, meaningless, stuff Dershowitz is babbling in an article, and the arguments that will be made to the Supreme Court?

Here, let me re-post the relevant parts of what I originally posted - to keep your your chronic trolling over irrelevancies from getting in the way:

Quote:

Well, the headline is a bit over-stated. However, it challenges the democrats' contention that Trump is obstructing Congress simply by claiming executive privilege - or at least, it helps establish the right to have Congressional subpoenas adjudicated in court.

We'll see.

FLIES SHIT.

You are fucking kidding me, right? Dershowitz, in the second paragraph of his article, claims that House subpoenas are unconstitutional until the Supreme Court gives its approval. Dershowitz is bullshitting, starting in the second paragraph. Why would you even mention that article?

"The defendant wants to hide the truth because he's generally guilty. The defense attorney's job is to make sure the jury does not arrive at that truth." - Alan Dershowitz, being very cynical.

So? Unless he's arguing in front of the Supremes, whatever he blathers is meaningless.

Why would you even mention that article?
Because I was too lazy to go and hunt for an alternative 'source' you might approve in order to report a fact - THAT THE CASES HAVE BEEN TAKEN UP BY THE SUPREMES.

Do you dispute that FACT?
If not, stop trolling.

Of course you would, it's a masterclass in inflationary manipulative garbage.

Signym and 1Kiki had a conversation last year where they agreed America should give its arms over to RUSSIA...and then deleted it. I wonder what possible motives someone could have to say that???

You could have quoted about Trump's subpoenas: www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/12/13/donald-trump-tax-finan
cial-data-supreme-court/4410231002
/

Candidate Trump promised to reveal his tax returns. After the election, Trump vowed to never reveal his tax returns. Trump's sister, the federal judge, got caught cheating on her taxes, which she had to reveal if she wanted to remain a judge. Trump was also in on those same tax cheating deals. The House got suspicious about Trump's honesty and integrity, then subpoenaed his returns. Courts have already ruled that Trump must reveal his tax returns. Trump ran to his buddies on Supreme Court to overrule the lower courts.
