OK, bad Smeagelle forgot to give silly AcKtors place to put discussion for New Hokkaido stage.

Here you go - place to comment and discuss

Also moved description of place you are visiting, to place you are commenting - for safe keeping ...

New Hokkaido

New Hokkaido is one of the Terraformed Moons. Once it was made habitable, it was discovered to have nearly the most perfect climate across it’s entire surface. That being the case, instead of becoming a place to dump immigrants to sink or swim, it became a place to build places for people to come and have fun, and spend money. Consequently it is one of the most lavish and entertaining places around. Recently it has come under Alliance backing as well and while it was patrolled and safe before (tourists needing to be kept safe to spend their coin after all) it is currently extremely well policed throughout the urban areas. Things are a bit looser on the continent set aside to grow crops and cattle to feed the hoards in the city areas. There are fish farms and some specialty/luxury crops grown as well – New Hokkaido is attempting to be as self-sufficient as their climate and setup will allow them. In this area as well, working cattle ranches have spawned a return to the “Dude Ranch” where wealthy city folk can get down and dirty and play cowboy for a time.

The major spaceport is located on the largest continent. Here also is the largest city, housing the elite Alliance presence, the local government bigwigs, and a large, popular Companion house. This being a newly constructed area it is clean, well patrolled, virtually crime free and has no real slum areas at all. Tourists, local business men and the necessary day to day functions to support them are in an older settlement at least 20 miles away, such peons as are needed to provide comforts to the elite commute from there. Somewhere between these two extremes is a lovely area of nice hotels and spas, courtesy of a hot spring. Here is the Greentree Spa, and here also is the UBA Tournament – The United Billiards Association has located their annual tournament on New Hokkaido this year and it is starting in a very few days. Every day sees more and more ships coming in, loaded with Players and their groupies, Gamblers and other followers of the high-stakes sporting world. The Press Corp has one whole hotel to themselves (and a good job to, a most annoying bunch.)

The biggest draw to New Hokkaido is the Re-Enact Faire. Originally and loosely based on a long-tradition of re-inactions of battles from Earth-that-Was, it has since grown into a multi-cultural celebration of all that was Earth-that-Was. Many eras, traditions, cultures, are represented side-by-side here - along with anything that could be thought up to support them. Clothing booths to supply you with period outfits for whatever section you are visiting, food, drink, music and other entertainment appropriate to the locale … the battlegrounds are surrounded by reproductions of the eras in which they took place. New sections are added on each year, new cultures, new battles; an ever changing kaleidoscope of human endeavor.

Given time, and a map, one can find just about anything here – inside the grounds the locals who run this place police their own areas, and very well too. Not much escapes their notice, as whole families have inhabited the same areas for years, producing the next generation of re-enactors and support functions. Catching a thief, murderer or rapist by whatever means is grounds for a reward from the fair-wards rather than punishment, and will probably continue to be so until such time as the Alliance gets around to messing it up.

But outside the actual Faire, the surrounding area is where the vices can be found, and again almost anything can be acquired there, only no maps here. You need something you ask around and hope whomever you ask will stay bought.

At this time on New Hokkaido: the weather is warm but not hot, dry and with enough breezes during the day to remain comfortable.

actually its Quentin's bag which the lady stole .. it was a theft deterrent ... the bag contains a rudimentary device which worked like a joy buzzer with a few extra volts in it and thats it (which had one use only) ... sorry it wasn't clear by the actions in the post
as for Graham picking it up that is abso-smurfly fine ...

Greetings Acktors,

Smeagelle makes a decision.

Unless anyone objects, in THIS New Hokkaido thread if someone drops a hint, clue or action - feel free to pick it up. IF you want someone to know what is going on, please post it here or make it clear in context. Otherwise whoever elects to move off of your action may well just insert their own ideas or interpretations. Which has it's own amusement factor.

This thread is to have fun, to introduce characters and to get new AcKtors used to our peculiar posting style. As long as we remember we are telling a story here, lets have a bit of fun with it. IF structure or direcKtors notes are needed I will handle it in the OOC, or drive it through posts. And, since I am trying to coordinate this with something else, it may come up.

As for general etiquitte - we have been known to use another's character briefly but not abuse.
Rather than speak FOR someone else, using chat or email to talk directly to the opposing acKtor and blending a scene is preferable.

If interacting with someone, best to finish a scene before moving on, if real life permits, and try not to make someone wait forever for a response, although there is no hard-fast rule about posting frequency.

Does anyone have an objection to these concepts????

Smeagelle

Hi Mike -

The Gunrunners invented the OOC threads to keep the RP threads from getting too cluttered up with OOC comments and distracting too much from the story. One day there will be two threads for the Next Gen too. Just trying to stay organized.

Also, as an FYI, Robert Laing and Rowan go WAY back. He's responsible for getting both her and Xiang into the Independent movement. The fella I have in mind for him is Dominic West.

Aside from that, I don't have a huge bio for him. Once I do, I'll add it to the New Character Biographies thread.

He's basically just hanging out, waiting for Rowan to turn up. He'll be interacting with some of the other UBA players at The Edge. More on that in a bit too.

Sorry to post and run - got Christmas shopping to do.

Fans come and fans go...but zealots are with you until the bitter black end.
