The republicans are in a unique position at the moment. If I were them I'd walk into the oval office and tell Trump if he doesn't follow their instructions going forward, they'll impeach him and put him in jail. Either that or to get out of town.
tick tock

If the GOP Senators do get Trump to retract the permission he gave to the President of Turkey to invade Syria, and then Turkey confiscates Trump's property, it would strongly suggest that Trump gave the permission in the first place mainly to protect his property. From that, his impeachment will follow.
Trump has been promising for years to pull our troops out of the Mideast. Why are you concocting an elaborate conspiracy theory when the reason for this action is as plain as day? It's like Trump's promise to make nice with Russia (which has ALSO been stymied by the deep state)... it's not like he campaigned on one platform and switched to another (like Obama did). If people didn't know what Trump's foreign policy intentions were when they voted, it's because they weren't paying attention.
Please stop posting crazy conspiracy theories so I can stop posting this picture of you
Woudln't it be more reality-basd to wonder why Trump promised to pull our troops out of the Mideast FOUR YEARS AGO? It's not like this is a surprise!

Quote:This is a surprise: "The Pentagon is deploying three antimissile systems, two squadrons of jet fighters and some 2000 additional troops to Saudi Arabia." Signym, Trump's actions yesterday contradicted you. And then there is Trump stabbing America's allies, the Kurds, in the back to help Erdogan, who should be kicked in the ass by Trump.

NO IT'S NOT A SURPRISE.
We have an agreement with Saudi Arabia, it's called the petrodollar agreement. In return for Saudi Arabia promising to require dollars for oil and recycling those dollars into our Treasuries, we promised to protect Saudi Arabia militarily.
That agreement was made some time around 1973, so if this is a surprise to you, you'v had your head stuck in the sand for a loooong time.
We have accommodated the Saudis in all kinds of ways ever since, from overlloking their funding of radical madrassas all over the Mideast and N Africa, spreading their wahhabist ideology, to hiding and protecting the Saudi funders and abbetors of the 9-11 attacks to protecting the petrodollar by attacking any oil-producing nation that threatened to go off the petrodollar (Iraq, Libya) to aiding and abetting the Saudis in their wars of choice (Yemen, Syria, Iran).
Putting troops in Saudi Arabia is just pulling back to the original scope of the agreement: protect Saudi Arabia (and its oil infrastructure). Now, if Turmp would only end our involvement in Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq we'd be better off.*
*Or, maybe not. Make the case for continuing our wars there. Show me how we are maintaining some sort of vital security ithat can't be maintained any other way. I'm all ears, ready to hear some sort of countervailing argument.

Signym, you went way overboard with your description of the petrodollar. It is as if you have an agenda to explain away Trump's incredibly bad decisions. Was it the petrodollar that forced Trump to withdraw from Obama's peace agreement with Iran, a withdrawal that started a new round of crisis with Iran for the benefit of Saudi Arabia? Or was Trump just plain old stupid when he withdrew?

SECONDRATE, you're making shit up, again.
The petrodollar deal is as I've described it. Our past concessions to Saudi Arabia are as I've described them. I'm not using the petrodollar deal to explain Trump's reaction to Iran; I've posted ever since he started campaigning that he has a grotch against Iran that will inevitably run counter to his " make nice with Russia" plan.
And you still haven't showed our existential interests in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, and Lybia.

The U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, intends to tell Congress this week that the content of a text message he wrote denying a quid pro quo with Ukraine was relayed to him directly by President Trump in a phone call, according to a person familiar with his testimony.
Sondland plans to tell lawmakers he has no knowledge of whether the president was telling him the truth at that moment. “It’s only true that the president said it, not that it was the truth.”
