I like to know how many of them watched every Saw movie that came out once a year while they were growing up.

You'll have to let me know if it's actual torture porn, or if it's actually any good when you see it. I largely tuned out of any of that shit after shutting off the sequel to Silence of the Lambs around my mid 20s. I don't mind watching movies with monsters and aliens, but I have no desire to watch people hurting other people. There's enough of that shit in the real world.

I agree that a lot of the trash out there today is gross. It's unfortunate that SJW's come around and make it about sex and race, and then calling for banning it, essentially making Joker a hero in 2019.

Welp, watched Joker and survived to write about it. The movie itself isn't my usual cup of tea. It's dark, gritty and at times unflinchingly honest. So much of what I heard about this movie just wasn't what I saw on screen, so once again, let the actual film do the speaking , and ignore the critics. And by that, of course, I mean go see it.

Yes, it is R rated. This isn't Jack Nicholson's Joker. Joaquin Phoenix puts on a Oscar winning performance, no question.

Joker certainly isn't the feel good movie of the season. It's not the pick me up or cure to chase your blues away if you're having a bad day, week, or life.

But if you like well made movies that tell interesting stories, I recommend this one.

So... Is it torture porn or not?

I'm increasingly interested in seeing this if it isn't.

I wasn't aware that it won the Venice Film Festival before American critics saw it and started tearing it to shreds.

WatchMojo, a top-ten clickbait horseshit youtube channel on par with BuzzFeed has videos titled "Top 10 Reasons Joker Will Blow Your Mind", "Top 10 Things Joker Did Right", "Top 10 Reasons Joker Will Sweep at the Oscars".

Tim Pool just made a video on it very hesitantly saying that he wants to give it a 10 out of 10, and that he was in awe of it. He says that some people will probably think it's not action packed enough if they walk in expecting the usual Marvel or DC fare, but it's his personal favorite comic book movie of all time.

And now I understand what the lefty elitist backlash is all about too...

Joker is not an incel. There's no incel rhetoric in the movie at all.

What they had a problem with is the fact that all the mask wearing Joker supporters in the film are emulating are Marcos and his black mask wearing Antifa buddies. The film is a hit piece on extreme leftism today.

Not remotely torture porn. The most disturbing stuff ( IMO ) was the psychological drama, in addition to some admittedly quick but violent scenes.

Again , look at the time this movie was set in.. the late 70's. It almost had a feel of The Watchmen, w/ how dark it was, but even then I don't think Joker reached that level.

It's clever. It keeps viewers on their toes. Fans of good story telling will really enjoy this.

Cool. I think I'm going to see it. As long as it isn't anywhere near the level of "Hannibal" in terms of violence.

Thanks.

I forget , is that the one where Ray Liotta has a part of his brain cooked, then served to him and is forced to eat it ?

Yeah, no where near that violent.

Yup. That's the one.

To this day, Hannibal is the only movie I've ever turned off mid-way through (at the brain scene). To be fair, I intentionally don't watch anything like that if I can help it, so I'm sure that there have been a ton of other movies since then that I would have given up on early too.

Like Bender said, "Once you watch it, you can't unwatch it".
