Yanno what? On March 30, 1981, only 69 days into the new administration, Ronald Reagan was shot. Best thing that ever happened to him because it changed him from a goddamn fool of a Republican to somebody with enough wisdom to know his time is short. It is a lesson Trump has obviously not learned. You, neither.

6ixStringJack, I can see WHY you are not doing well in this world: You are stupid. The following editorial was written assuming Americans are smart. They aren't, which means the predictions in the editorial will not come to pass:

Trump’s Death by Self-Regard (By the way, stupid 6ixStringJack, the editorial is NOT calling for Trump's death)

https://prospect.org/blogs/tap/trumps-death-by-self-regard/

The just-released transcript of Trump’s call with Ukraine’s president Zelensky is nothing short of staggering.

Trump’s self-regard, swagger, and extreme narcissism are all on display. You get the sense that he is so eager to strut his stuff and have the public see it, that it overwhelms any sense on his part that this particular strut could be the stuff of impeachment.

And of course, the transcript can’t be read in isolation. Just days before, as Trump now admits, he withheld $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. There would have been no reason to do this except as leverage.

So now we have a smoking gun, every bit as damaging and self-inflicted as the Nixon tapes.

And irony of ironies, we have Trump up against another president who began as a TV entertainer. Except that Zelensky, who once played a president on Ukrainian TV, seems to have navigated the transition to actual president a lot better than Trump.

There are also reports that Trump has withdrawn his efforts to prevent the whistle-blower from testifying to Congress because of pressure from Republican legislators. And this is the second game changer. As flat-out illegal behavior is documented, expect more Republicans to defect.

As one who has been advocating impeachment for months, I’m always amazed at the tendency of pundits to make straight-line extrapolations from the current state of public and elite opinion. But public opinion is dynamic.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has taken a lot of grief from progressives for waiting so long. As things turned out, she played it exactly right. She waited until she had a transgression that the public could easily grasp, until she had the overwhelming majority of the Democratic Caucus with her, and then she went all in. (Sorry, but the public will grasp nothing.)

Whistle-Blower Is Said to Allege Concerns About White House Handling of Ukraine Call

WASHINGTON — The intelligence officer who filed a whistle-blower complaint about President Trump’s interactions with the leader of Ukraine raised alarms not only about what the two men said in a phone call, but also about how the White House handled records of the conversation, according to two people briefed on the complaint.

The whistle-blower, moreover, identified multiple White House officials as witnesses to potential presidential misconduct who could corroborate the complaint, the people said — adding that the inspector general for the intelligence community, Michael Atkinson, interviewed witnesses.

I listen to three newscasts every day: NBC, ABC, and PBS. I usually listen to ABC on the same day, because it's the least credible, but it let's me know what I'm supposed to be hyperventilating about.

I listen to NBC about a week or more late, because it refreshes my memory about how the stories originated, in the light of subsequent 'news'. It let's me know how the story has drifted over time, because they assume we're not actually tracking the reporting and will nod our assent at whatever truthiness they blather at us in the moment.

And I listen to PBS much, much later, because they're very 'narrative' heavy. It gives me an idea of what I'm supposed to be thinking.

Oddly enough, I JUST listened to the initial NBC reports when the 'telephone conversation' story first broke - a week ago. At the time no one could confirm that it involved Trump, or knew the identity of the foreign person. Nevertheless, the claim of the whistleblower - AS REPORTED - was that THERE WERE "PROMISES MADE", and fact of those "PROMISES MADE" were the source of all the supposed national security concern.

That claim of "PROMISES MADE" has completely disappeared from the 'news'.

The insane never-Trumpers will be driven even more insane in the wash/rinse/spin/repeat/ cycle they mistake for reality.

Calls me stupid for pointing out that he's called for the assassination of the president a dozen times.

Backs this up by posting a dozen paragraphs unrelated to the issue.

Pretty sure you're on the spectrum too, buddy.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

6ixStringJack, you are as dumb as Trump, but twice as articulate. Too bad being able to talk well won't get you anywhere, except in a sales job or in politics, none of which have you taken up as way to earn your living. Remember, 6ix, neither being stupid nor having forgotten your education is a barrier to becoming a salesman in America! Just look how far Trump has gone, using only his mouth. Here is Trump's mouth running without his brain engaged:

Donald Trump pressed Ukraine’s new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to help legitimize conspiracy theories about his Democratic rivals during a private telephone conversation in July, and again at a public meeting at the United Nations on Wednesday.

White House notes on the July call, released before the two presidents met in New York, showed that Trump urged his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate false claims about the theft of emails from the Democratic National Committee’s servers in 2016 and about former Vice President Joe Biden’s role in getting Ukraine’s chief prosecutor fired the same year.

The summary of the call shows that when Zelensky said that his country wanted to buy Javelin antitank missiles from the United States — using millions of dollars in American military aid the White House was blocking at the time — Trump responded by saying, “I would like you to do us a favor though.” The American president then presented shards of a conspiracy theory he’s invoked before: that the DNC computers were not hacked by Russian intelligence agents, as Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded, rather, Democrats had framed Russia for the crime, with the help of a Ukrainian-owned cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike.

A publicly-traded company headquartered in California, CrowdStrike has nothing to do with Ukraine, except in conspiracyland, which pretends that CrowdStrike co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch is Ukrainian, and that he framed Russia for election interference both on the DNC’s orders and to punish Putin for invading Ukraine.

Trump's theory “is absurd for many reasons,” the New York Times cybersecurity reporter Nicole Perlroth observed on Twitter. “The server is not in Ukraine; it’s sitting in the DNC basement. Despite Trump’s repeated claims Democrats withheld the server from the FBI, CrowdStrike and the DNC actually gave all their forensic evidence to the FBI.”

Trump's lawyers have the perfect defense against impeachment: Not Guilty by reason of Stupidity. I'm pretty sure all GOP Senators will buy that defense, while no Democratic Senators will. The more Trump says, the more convincing the Stupidity Defense is. And being stupid is not a high crime and misdemeanor.

And my, oh my, how you DO carry on!

When the Ukrainian President returns to acting in comedy, he will have some very funny stories to tell on TV about the American President. Unlike in Ukraine, America's Trump lovers can't understand the practical joke Trump has played on them. No matter how many times the Democrats explain it to them, or draw them a picture, they don't get it, but the Ukrainians do.

There is a funny picture on the front page of the Houston Chronicle showing the two Presidents (both are actors before becoming Presidents). The expression on the Ukrainian President's face says: "I can't believe the nonsense coming out of Trump's mouth."

Being stupid is not a high crime and misdemeanor, so the Democrats will have very hard time convicting Trump. The 2020 Trump bumper-sticker: "He's stupid. You're stupid. Vote Trump"
