So what? They're still doing a hell of a lot better overall at 1/2 percent than the general population.

It's been going down since 1997, but we're still well above 3% on the national average.

And I'll use the same argument that those who defend the rampant criminal activity among NFL players use...

"Someone being arrested for anything is a far cry from being a convicted felon."

It looks as though most of those are for misdemeanors and other non-violent crimes. This article is taking the few worst examples out of a very small pool of arrests made to try to paint all border patrol as violent and shitty people.

These are the guys providing the muscle for Trump's series of failed raids to gather illegals for deportation. These guys are bad at their jobs:

1) Trump talks up success of raids, despite little evidence of widespread deportations.

2) Large-Scale Immigration Raids Fail to Materialize

3) A small number of coordinated federal raids targeting undocumented migrant parents and their children took place over the weekend. Only a handful of arrests appeared to take place, and they were reported in just a few cities.

4) As immigrant families wait in dread, no sign of large-scale enforcement raids

Quoting you: "It looks as though most of those are for misdemeanors and other non-violent crimes. This article is taking the few worst examples out of a very small pool of arrests made to try to paint all border patrol as violent and shitty people."

It is not just arrests. These officers failed in their weekend round up of illegals. They fail in running their lockups along the border. They get themselves arrested. They are bad employees. You get good employees by hiring more people, increasing their pay so that good people will take the job. And the final secret to a well run organization is ruthlessly firing the bad ones, kicking their worthless asses out the door. The GOP doesn't want to spend the money to hire good people capable of capturing and deporting illegals. That's why there are 11,000,000 illegals roaming free inside the USA and more coming all the time.

As a side note, the GOP doesn't want to increase spending on the Internal Revenue Service. That is why $500 billion in taxes aren't collected each year. The GOP doesn't want that money collected. There are nice graphs showing the IRS's yearly decreases in budget/number of employees at www.irs.gov/statistics/irs-budget-and-workforce

Like the IRS and the taxes not collected each year, the GOP doesn't really want 11,000,000 illegals deported, either. Those illegals are employees of Republican owned businesses.

Yeah. No shit.

I don't remember a single time where I've ever called myself a Republican.

I can, however, point out literally hundreds of times where I've said they're just two sides of the same coin and they're equally culpable in making our once great country crash and burn.

They just have two very different ways of doing it, but once the other side gets into power the damage the side did before it is never reversed and the new stuff is just constantly mounted on top of the shit pile.

When Trump talked about criminals coming across the border, I wonder if he was thinking of this:

An ultra-violent MS-13 gang entered the U.S., then stalked L.A. with blades and bats

And if democrats don't do anything different, how are they any better?

Poll: Clear Majority of Mexicans Say Migrants Should Be Deported Back to Their Home Countries

A new poll conducted by the Washington Post found that the clear majority of Mexicans think migrants should be deported back to their home countries.

The survey, which was conducted in partnership with Mexico’s Reforma newspaper, found that Mexicans are “deeply frustrated” with immigrants traveling through their country from Central America.

6 in 10 Mexicans say migrants are a burden on their country taking jobs that should belong to citizens, the poll found.

55 per cent of Mexicans also support deporting migrants who go through Mexico to the United States, compared to just 7 per cent who want to give them residency in Mexico.

The results of the poll completely contradict the narrative that wanting proper border controls and disincentivizing mass migration is a view only shared by “racist” Trump supporters.

The Washington Post acknowledges that the numbers “defy the perception that Mexico…is sympathetic to the surge of Central Americans” and that they prove “Mexicans have turned against the migrants transiting through their own country”.

Mexican citizens are more in line with Trump’s view on immigration than virtually every Democratic presidential candidate running.

Let that sink in.

“Will Democrats say Mexicans are racist now?” asked Robby Starbuck.

Gangs profit from Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy

Gangs are taking advantage of stranded migrants, who often are penniless but have relatives who can wire them cash in an emergency.

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico — Ten-year-old Anthony sat cross-legged on the floor eating soupy white rice while his mother recounted the day when 20 gang members stormed the migrant shelter where they stayed.

She said the men, dressed in black and wearing ski masks, yelled “Get to the ground!” and pointed their guns at them.

Dozens of parents and children screamed and cried as the gang took their phones and money.

“We can’t stay here,” said Sandra, Anthony’s mother, as she held him at the Good Samaritan shelter here. “It’s not safe.”

The Good Samaritan is one of several shelters in Nuevo Laredo housing migrants caught up in the Trump administration’s Migrant Protection Protocols program, which has returned more than 45,000 asylum-seekers to Mexico to await their U.S. court hearings.

As of August, more than 6,300 migrants were sent back to Nuevo Laredo under MPP, according to the Syracuse University nonprofit TRAC, which monitors federal agencies and courts.

Gangs are taking advantage of stranded migrants, who often are penniless but have relatives who can wire them cash in an emergency. Many are robbed or kidnapped and held until their families in the U.S. or in their home country pay for their release.
