Real estate developers in the 1980’s & 1990’s, more than 30 years ago, were entitled to massive write offs and depreciation which would, if one was actively building, show losses and tax losses in almost all cases. Much was non monetary. Sometimes considered “tax shelter,” you would get it by building, or even buying. You always wanted to show losses for tax purposes....almost all real estate developers did - and often re-negotiate with banks, it was sport. Additionally, the very old information put out is a highly inaccurate Fake News hit job!

Fauci has counseled every president from Ronald Reagan through Barack Obama about the problem of epidemics, because each of them has needed that counsel. “This transcends administrations,” he tells me.
And Donald Trump? “I haven’t had any interaction with him yet,” Fauci says. “But in fairness, there hasn’t been a situation.”
There surely will be, though. At some point, a new virus will emerge to test Trump’s mettle. What happens then? He has no background in science or health, and has surrounded himself with little such expertise. The President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology, a group of leading scientists who consult on policy matters, is dormant. The Office of Science and Technology Policy, which has advised presidents on everything from epidemics to nuclear disasters since 1976, is diminished. The head of that office typically acts as the president’s chief scientific consigliere, but to date no one has been appointed.
Other parts of Trump’s administration that will prove crucial during an epidemic have operated like an Etch A Sketch. During the nine months I spent working on this story, Tom Price resigned as secretary of health and human services after using taxpayer money to fund charter flights (although his replacement, Alex Azar, is arguably better prepared, having dealt with anthrax, flu, and sars during the Bush years). Brenda Fitzgerald stepped down as CDC director after it became known that she had bought stock in tobacco companies; her replacement, Robert Redfield, has a long track record studying HIV, but relatively little public-health experience.
Rear Admiral Tim Ziemer, a veteran malaria fighter, was appointed to the National Security Council, in part to oversee the development of the White House’s forthcoming biosecurity strategy. When I met Ziemer at the White House in February, he hadn’t spoken with the president, but said pandemic preparedness was a priority for the administration. He left in May.
Organizing a federal response to an emerging pandemic is harder than one might think. The largely successful U.S. response to Ebola in 2014 benefited from the special appointment of an “Ebola czar” — Ron Klain — to help coordinate the many agencies that face unclear responsibilities. In 2016, when Obama asked for $1.9 billion to fight Zika, Congress devolved into partisan squabbling. Republicans wanted to keep the funds away from clinics that worked with Planned Parenthood . . .

Well I figured that would be the case, but I find it pretty funny that Trump would bother posting that online for all the "geniuses" to talk about.
I'm going to go ahead and put a mark in the gaffe column for that post.
Half of Americans ranted and raved about how evil Trump was that the new tax code fixed, at least somewhat, a long standing intentional flaw in income tax withholdings that gave the Government a much larger personal loan from every working American than they should have been giving. None of these idiots realized they were getting more money per paycheck, but boy did they notice that their returns were smaller.
These are the same idiots he's trying to explain basic accounting 101 for rich people too? Probably not among his wisest tweets. I'll admit that.

Hillary Clinton often warned that Donald Trump would do to the United States what he had done to his businesses. She was thinking of his record of debt, failure, and bankruptcy — about which The New York Times offered grim new details yesterday.
But there is an even more disturbing way that Clinton’s warnings are being fulfilled. North Korea has resumed missile testing, disregarding both Trump’s wooing and his threats of “fire and fury.” It has taken the U.S. president’s measure — and found him weak and empty.
The Times’s story of the tax returns showed how stock markets found Trump weak and empty in the 1980s. Between 1986 and 1989, Trump earned $67.3 million from short-term stock speculation. His method? He would acquire a substantial position in a company, then boast of his takeover intentions. Trump’s words would drive the stock price up. He would then sell at a profit.
The trick worked as long as Trump’s credibility lasted. Which was not long. Then he started losing big and constantly.
Realizing you won't read the article, I'll quote the major blunder Trump made this month:
The big question in a trade dispute is which side can stand more pain. At the same time as Trump has threatened China, he has pleaded with the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. The Chinese have noted the juxtaposition. The Wall Street Journal quoted an analyst at Chinese government-backed think tank: "“Why would you be constantly asking the Fed to lower rates if your economy is not turning weak?”
The world is absorbing the lesson that Wall Street learned in the 1980s. Trump has only one negotiating move: take an aggressive position, try to deceive others and maybe yourself about your own strength, issue threats you cannot fulfill, and then retreat amid losses if the bluff is called.
But whereas once those losses were denominated in the millions, today they rise to the hundreds of billions. Where once he troubled only those investors credulous enough to take seriously his tycoon image, today he troubles the peace of the world.

There is zero ROI for him if he were ever to release his taxes to the public. Nada. Zilch.
What could he ever stand to gain by releasing them?
People who were going to always vote for Trump are still going to vote for Trump. People who were never going to vote for Trump are still never going to vote for Trump.
The only two undecideds in this race in 2020 are the undecided voters themselves, and the amount of people on either side who are fed up and just stay home on election day.
After two years of RUSSIA!!! failed, it's back to the old tax thing. Those voters against Trump are licking their wounds and are just tired and depressed right now, clinging on to any potential idea to get Trump out as if it were the last hope in their lives. Everybody else in the middle is just tired of all of it.
Nobody will ever shame Trump into releasing those taxes, and just like it's too late to do anything about the Electoral College until the Democrats inevitably run the entire show again and completely forget about the issue, it's too late to change any laws to force him to comply with any such order in the next 6 years either.

He is always backing down first. That is how he lost that $1 billion. He wasn’t in a strong enough position, despite his big mouth saying that he was.
I was trying to recall what Trump wanted, but won’t get done because he doesn't know what he is doing or he is too disorganized or he pisses off Congress just because it feels fun for him:
1) A replacement for Obamacare that is better
2) Build a beautiful, tall Texas/Mexico Wall (remember the government shutdown?)
3) Keep Mexicans from crossing the border (remember the border shutdown?)
4) Deport 24 million Mexicans living in the USA
5) Close Chinese factories and reopen in the USA ('Trade wars are good, and easy to win' www.cnbc.com/2018/03/02/trump-trade-wars-are-good-and-easy-to-win.html )
6) Disarm Iran's nukes (he is sending the aircraft carriers to Iran)
7) Disarm N Korea's nukes (remember fire and fury?)
8) Build $2 Trillion worth of new infrastructure (this time he really means it!)
9) Stop the opioid epidemic
10) Balance the federal budget so that the national debt stops increasing
None of it will happen because Trump is a loudmouth who can't, or won’t, run a large organization. Instead of working at his job for 40 hours per week, he spends his days campaigning to be in charge for another four years in a job he couldn't do right even if Congress was 60% Republican and Trump increased his working hours to 55 per week.
Is Trump running in a primary for the nomination of the Republican Party?
I’m pretty sure somebody should tell him he doesn’t need to, but he does need to be at work from 9 to 5 on weekdays, exactly like his White House staff and his Cabinet and all the other paper pushers working for him:
