Part time shit jobs don't make up for full time good paying jobs with benefits.
None of these numbers account for that.
Trump was right when he called the numbers bullshit when Obama is president.

These workers don't have to be paid poorly. Fix that by raising the minimum wage then count the job as just another job that must be done.

If you asked Americans to pay more to create jobs in America, they are not going to ask how much more, how many jobs, who gets the jobs and then make a balanced decision between increased cost versus increased number of jobs. Instead, when Americans are given a choice, they won't pay a dime more because they don't give a damn about who is unemployed in another state. 6ix and JewelStaiteFan need to stop your whining and your nonsense that Americans do care about millions of unknown and out-of-state people being unemployed or poorly paid.

Remember that you tested well on electronics and PLCs about three years ago? I would find where you mentioned it a fff.net, but you are not paying me enough to work as your memory manager. You should have finished whatever training you started to learn this stuff and then moved to where the jobs are. You'd be much richer than you are today. Your life would be so different.

I finished the training. I was actually the first person to get all four certifications offered, and I also had a 90% or higher on three of the exams. Not bad, considering my drinking was out of control and had already begun to ruin my life at that point.
I place zero value on riches. I just aim to get myself in a better situation where I don't have to worry about things that I shouldn't have to worry about anymore.
Half of my problem that got me where I am now was actually too much money. I wouldn't have been able to afford to do a quarter of the damage I did to myself if I had had any financial worries or obligations to anybody but myself for a majority of my wasted 30's.
But I've scraped by and coasted for years, and even in my sobriety I've continued to allow my situation to deteriorate. I cannot afford to waste any more time. All I can do is thank whatever higher power there is out there that I've at least got a clear head now. I don't know exactly how I'm going to get myself out of the corner I've painted myself into, but I surely wouldn't even have been able to begin to formulate a plan when I spent my life in a drunken haze.
I'm all on my own here, whatever I need to do. I don't have friends or family that are going to help me out of this one. I'm certainly not going to rely on any lying politicians on either side to bail me out.
Maybe you can pretend to be a human being for the twelve seconds it would take out of your life to wish me luck.

But for residents of Belvidere, a small river city situated amid sprawling cornfields about 75 miles northwest of Chicago, Monday will be anything but business as usual.
“I’m scared,” said Mike Dovey, 57, of Poplar Grove, whose two years at the plant end Saturday. “There’s a lot of uncertainty. You don’t have a job, you’ve still got to pay all your bills.”
Dovey was among the 1,371 least-tenured union workers at the plant who received notice from Fiat Chrysler in February that the third crew — and their jobs — would be eliminated in May. In addition, hundreds of employees at nearby suppliers like Syncreon and Android have been permanently laid off as well, according to state filings.
The anxiety among residents here is palpable, even as the plant, which employed 5,464 at the start of 2019, will likely remain the region’s largest employer.

Been there. Done that.
I've got nothing but sympathy for these people. Especially the "lifers" that have worked there for decades and don't know how bad the job market is for the majority of us. There's absolutely no way in hell that somebody who is 57 is going to find a job making close to what they made before. When that plant shutters its doors, their life the way they were accustomed to living it is over. Period.
They'll be able to find any service job they want though. Flipping burgers, stocking shelves, maybe taking care of the elderly at near minimum wage...
If they didn't save, they're in trouble.
I used to think I was immune to that because of the decisions I had made. The last month has been a very rude awakining for me. My own life is about to be full of some drastic changes, and in a hurry. Wish I could say that everything is going to work out fine in the end, but I'm only going to give that 50/50 right now.
I've been in desperate need of a change for a long time now. Looks as though I'm going to be forced into one whether I like it or not.
The only thing I can do is try to keep my head on straight and maintain a positive outlook.
