Meh... Haven't watched a comic book movie since the second Avengers... not about to start now.
If I want to see Jackson in an entertaining buddy cop movie, I'll watch Die Hard III or Loaded Weapon.

I'm out of touch because I don't know what's going on in the MCU?
It's not a question of money. I don't watch a majority of these things when they're free or near-free after the fact either.
I think KODI was the thing that did it for me. Not the fact that it was free, because I got rid of cable 10 years ago and still watched a lot of movies I had downloaded, so free hasn't been an issue for a very long time.
It wasn't that it was free. But it was free with the addition of being automatic. Downloading and then setting everything up to stream and keeping things organized was work. It was free, but it was still work.
KODI completely devalued it all in my mind to the point where I lost all interest. I'm glad that it did. Binge watching TV shows is no way to live. Netflix even knows this and adds 5 minute videos to your queue that are secret and only play when you've watched too much at one time. Ask me how I know.
If not having an opinion on Captain Marvel or whatever the next big movie means I'm out of touch, I'm alright with that.
As for not being wiser, you're half right. Choosing not to watch TV or Movies and not walking around with a smartphone alone doesn't make anyone wiser. What they choose to do with all that free time, however, can absolutely make one wiser.
I feel confident I'm spending a majority of my free time wisely.

I am better than you. I make smarter decisions than you. I never worry about my future, let alone how I'm going to put food on the table. For every 6 days I work, I get 8 days off of work to do whatever I want to do. I saved more than half of the money I made last year on top of it.
I learned how to fix damn near everything on my car, and by summer time I'll have it driving like it's brand new and only spending less than $1,000 doing it vs. paying somebody else $3,000-$4,000 for the labor. I learned all of that on youtube for free.
