I saw this movie a second time, this time in 3D. I liked it better in 3D.
As an aside, I tried to find it in IMAX, but alas could not find it in my area
in IMAX because Capt. Marvel took over all the IMAX theaters.
I'm anxiously waiting for the Blu-Ray version whenever this movie is released
on digital/DVD. I'm hoping that it reaches $400 worldwide, because that's what I read online about a possible sequel. I may even get the manga. But my biggest excitement is for Rosa Salazar, the star of the movie, she was awesome
in every kind of way. She is the Spanish Emily Blunt, that's how good she is.
Check out Chris Stuckman's review (I'm starting to like this guy, he gives a
"no bullshit" review):
Check it:
I really want to see this in IMAX.

Did I feel any letdown with the second viewing? No, absolutely not. I actually caught some things I missed in my first viewing or didn't completely understand. But I was still Wowed, even more so.
I liked it better, if that's even possible.
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie because I knew nothing about the story and found it entertaining. The world building, the CGI, the action and the acting were all top notch. I like the overall story, although the script/screenplay was a little weak...but, who cares, I went to see a cyborg kick ass. What I got was a well-made movie with a satisfying female character
at the forefront and NO Bullshit!
This could be a great franchise with James Cameron at the helm.

No, no let down whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I liked it even more. This movie deserves a sequel.

Good review.
I have no background or interest in Anime or Manga. Just not in my wheelhouse. Not been one for comics or such since that tiny window of my life, say 9-13 or so. I do enjoy hearing those who have been waiting for this as being super excited about this movie though. If the true target audience is geeked for a movie, say like I was for Fellowship of the Rings, then I think it speaks well to others who may enjoy a good story.
Alita isn't , as stated, w/ out its flaws, but damn... I thought it a very good flick.

Oh...
I did finally get around to watching that one while my brother was here.
I have to say that is has really been a long time since I watched a newish movie that had top-shelf special effects, and I was kind of blown away by this. Probably a lot more than regular movie watchers who have seen special effects on this level before.
I found the effects to be far more impressive than the few Marvel movies I've seen even. At one point my brother said "after watching it for a while I kind of start to forget that she's not real". And that was true.
I was REALLY enjoying the movie... A LOT. But as the clock started ticking down and I realized that it wouldn't be a finished story, the magic began to fade. Disney isn't very wise at making choices on which horses to back.
There may be some hope though...

Alita kills Nova, but she learns that is an endless task so long as Sky City (Zalem, if you prefer) exists with all its resurrection machinery to keep Nova alive. Mars didn’t care that their warrior, Alita, had failed to permanently kill Nova in her first life, before her amnesia, because Nova has since then been relatively well behaved and left Mars alone. But Alita’s vendetta against Nova has made Nova, again, a problem for Mars. Mars gives Alita an ultimatum: if Alita fails this time (which she knows she will because Sky City will resurrect Nova forever) Mars will kill immortal Nova by cutting the cable holding Sky City, which will be destroyed when it falls on Iron Town, where all Alita’s friends live. What Alita does next is impressive in the comic book.
