Very visible, fairly basic, simple , and capturing the attention of all those who rode the bus, drove or walked by. I always thought , when Serenity came out, why didn't we see similar ads ? I think in key areas, around universities, college campi, and other areas with demographics from 24-44, aka the general target age of most sci-fi fans, would have made sense.
Sure beats stuffing fliers in video stores and the like, as some of the guerrilla marketing of the day we tried.
As I mentioned in the other thread, Captain Marvel has production Budget of $152M. Alita is reported at $170M. But CM is getting gobs of ads, while Alita seemed to have little. I hope CM bombs. I feel bad that Gemma Chan was stuck working with this Bimbo Brie.
I recall that for Galaxy Quest, the makers did not want any actors from the Sci-Fi genre.
In Alita, what Sci-Fi royalty to we find? Waltz? Connelly? Ali? Norton? Elia Gonzalez? Rodriguez did do Resident Evil. Hugo's friend did just do Bumblebee. On talk show circuit, these folk did not seem comfy explaining the film or their roles.
By comparison, Avatar cast was in the midst of roles in Terminator, Star Trek, etc. Sigourney was Sci-Fi royalty.

Armageddon was just coat tailing off of Deep Impact, which came out 2 months earlier. Both movies were hyped because of the 1994 Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet impact of Jupiter.
Big ass impacts were fresh in the mind of the public when these movies came out.
Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

For all the splash and sparkles of Armageddon, D.I. was , imo, a more scientifically accurate , and thus BETTER movie.

Deep Impact was released May 8, 1998 and Armageddon was released June 30, 1998.

There's already talk of a sequel, based off the worldwide take, especially of that in China (from an internet article).
