Shanghai stocks just had their best day in more than three years after comments from the leaders of China and the United States brought investors piling back into the market.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite (SHCOMP) leaped 5.6% on Monday, its biggest daily percentage gain since July 2015, according to Reuters. That lifted it into a bull market, which is defined as a rise of at least 20% from a recent low.
Some of the encouragement came from US President Donald Trump, who announced that he'll delay a major tariff hike on Chinese exports . . .
The US government was due to hike tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods from 10% to 25% on March 2 if the two sides were unable to reach a deal before then. Trump didn't specify what the new deadline for raising tariffs would be . . .

Trump was not specific about anything other than whenever the next time he has a meeting with Xi, it would take place at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Trump has no idea of what he will be doing, but he will be doing it in Florida.

Experts were asked what Trump really wants from his trade deal with China; the most popular answer was “tweetable deliveries.”
Sure enough, Trump has been crowing about what he portrays as big Chinese concessions, which all seem to involve China’s government ordering companies to buy U.S. agricultural products. In particular, the postponement of the trade war came after a Chinese pledge to buy 10 million tons of soybeans. This will please farmers.
What China is offering doesn’t at all get at the real U.S. national interests at stake, other than farming. But it does give Trump something to tweet about.

I didn't say anything about Lighthizer's idiocy compared to Trump's genius.

The Chinese trade deficit is getting bigger and bigger under Trump. He said it would get smaller and smaller. Trump is a disaster when you look at the numbers.
Now that I think of it, Trump said the National Debt would get smaller and smaller. It is getting bigger and bigger, faster and faster. Trump is a disaster if you look at his numbers rather than listen to the sound of his voice.
