Whenever she comes over she likes building "castles" out of a few random coushins that I have, but they were really small and I didn't have a lot of other stuff to build with. I saw this thing online that was kind of like a giant erector set with 40 sticks with 20 balls that can all be connected and you can throw a sheet over it. I wasn't sure what the quality would be like or if it would work like I hoped, so I only bought one at the time. It was great though and we had a lot of fun building it. It would have worked better if she let us build it shorter and wider, but she wanted it tall, and she's the foreman, so I pretty much had to hold it up while she was playing in it. Extra sets aren't super expensive, so I'm planning on ordering a few more maybe for a Christmas present or something. Make something huge and a little more sturdy out of it.
I thought it was pretty funny that the Engrish instructions showed 3 samples that you could build with it, and all of them would require more pieces than came in a single set. :)

When my niece's were very young, I got them train sets with interlocking track, so they would learn geometry like I did. Their dolls all rode around the track.
Now they are both in Engineering schools.
Have you had adequate test of your SeaFoam repair?

Hoping to get one Christmas card into the mail this week and the rest by the end of the month. Hopefully that goes smooth with Canada post and striking workers.

It's actually not hard at all. It was hard breaking the cycle at first, for sure, but I haven't had any cravings or even any real thoughts about drinking for at least a year and a half. I'm wondering how much of my problem with beer was alcoholism and how much of it was just me being bored.
I've always wanted to learn how to play mah jong since they played it in Deadwood. I don't know how to play that game itself, and I'm not sure what all the tiles mean, but I do enjoy playing a game called Shanghai that uses those tiles. It's sort of to Mah Jong as Solitare is to Poker.
There is a guy who I watch on youtube who's published a few books. I'll try to remember to see if I can find out who he uses.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I keep trying to persuade my own mom to start working out again to increase her mobility. It's a lot better with her MS down in Arizona because of the climate than it was up here, but that's all the more reason for her to try to improve things now. My step-dad is quite a bit older and won't be around forever. I have no idea what's going to happen in the future there myself. I already told my brother not to expect me to take her in because I'm not going to end up being a living caricature of Principal Skinner.
I haven't really ever bought my niece much of anything. She's got a billion toys. I'm the only person I'm aware of that she gets excited to see just because she wants to play instead of asking first thing "what did you get me?". Now that she's getting old enough to appreciate stuff and she can start playing with interesting things that we both can enjoy I'm going to be looking into getting more stuff that we can do when she comes over. I'll definitely be looking into toys that teach like my grandpa did when I was her age.
The seafoam seems to have worked wonders with my engine and oil pan. I haven't had any missfires for a long time now, and I haven't had any problems starting the car or keeping it running once it's started. On the other hand though, the transmission is not looking good. I keep hoping we'll get a bought of warm weather for me to drain it and put new fluid in, but it's been too cold for me to do that and it's not likely to warm up until spring. I'm just hoping that it survives the winter and even if I have to learn how to replace the transmission at that point I've heard I can get a rebuilt one for around $250. Finger's crossed.

Basically layering up on clothes specially my top half. I wear a sweater and gloves and socks to bed, along with a hot water bottle.
Have bought a heating pad but I haven't had the nerve to break it out and use it yet.

From my understanding of alcoholism, I think boredom can play into it. But I'm happy that you are sober. That is great work.
Yes. A couple that run a hamburger place in a strip mall food court near where I live, I asked the wife how to say thank you and she told me.
Learning about the tiles in mah jong is easy but learning how to count the points is hard. I've been playing with the tiles for over 3years and I still get mixed up in the point counting sometimes. Shanghai or Tai pei was the first mah jong type of game I found on the computer. Then I found true mah jong and got hooked. I still play on the computer and can play for hours.
The tiles consist of the four winds, 3 sets of dragons, characters which are numbered 1-9, circles numbered 1-9, bamboo numbered 1-9. Also 4 sets of flowers.
