In all seriousness... a good list of the numbers by state. I'm sure they have changed since this graphic but have to be % close.
http://www.pewhispanic.org/interactives/unauthorized-immigrants/
I am a sometimes state's rights advocate, and in this case it seems like it is pretty lopsided in terms of the impact of illegal immigration. So a definite case where each state should be able to set their own laws within some kind of Federal guidelines. Having said that it does make me wonder why I haven't heard Texas or California make greater demands of the Federal government (at least that I've heard).
I'm also unsure of the Sanctuary City designation. I don't fully understand the implications either way and I sure as hell don't trust any politician or many on this board to try and explain it. But I am curious why so many cities believe it to be in their best interest.
Do we just multiply every number on that table by 2 to get the real number?
Or are the uncounted ones really centered in the border States, CA, TX, NV, AZ, NM?

Yeah, that's a BS number unless you provide a citation/source. I won't contest that it's far - very far - from perfect though.Quote:

What a miniscule way to look at it. No, "you guys" - I assume you mean Democrats - can't fix it (whatever that means - make it better?) without the GOP and our A-hole president. That's how we got a great idea but watered down, marginally better ACA in the first place! It'll stay broken unless both sides get together.Quote:

You won't need me to let you know - you'll find out firsthand if you need any health care.
If you need a source, look at how much you're paying for health insurance now compared to 2008. If you're going to lie to me and tell me that it's not true, then there is no reason to have any further discussion with you on the issue.

CONSTITUTIONALLY, GSTRING, that particular authority belongs with the Federal government.Quote:
The Constitution never uses the word immigration, so how is it that the rules for immigrants, and quotas for countries, are set by the federal government and not by the state governments? After all, as the 10th Amendment states, are the powers not delegated to the United States held by the states, or the people?
The Supreme Court has ruled that the Congressional power to regulate naturalization, from Article 1, Section 8, includes the power to regulate immigration (see, for example, Hampton v. Mow Sun Wong, 426 U.S. 88 [1976]). It would not make sense to allow Congress to pass laws to determine how an immigrant becomes a naturalized resident if the Congress cannot determine how, or even if, that immigrant can come into the country in the first place. Just because the Constitution lacks the word immigration does not mean that it lacks the concept of immigration.

That's why I said, "should be able to" and "within Federal guidelines."
I think I get why you post here. No one you know in person will even try and discuss anything with you because you always look for ways to contradict them even if you're wrong and even when they agree with you. Godd@mn.

Sounds like you're looking for an excuse to run from this thread...
It's not true. For one, the ACA went into effect in 2010 - not 2008. Second; even the right wing Heritage Foundation says insurance has risen 100% because of the ACA, so not 350%.
https://www.heritage.org/health-care-reform/report/how-obamacare-raise
d-premiums
"The seismic effects of the Affordable Care Act on insurance markets continue to be felt nearly eight years after its enactment. Premiums for individual coverage more than doubled between 2013 and 2017. Much of that increase resulted from Obamacare's new regulations."
Maybe if you never had insurance or your policy was a piece of sh*t it went up more than that, but that's not the national average.

I'll still wait for you to provide your sources.

It faded into obscurity like the Kavanaugh witch hunt and Puerto Rico. A month from now, nobody will even give it another thought.
In the mean time, 10,000 more illegals have already crossed the border since the last post to this thread.

SGG: It was a fraud like we said it was, like we KNEW it was. Just like we know everything from that scum suckers mouth is. Jack's right, everything in the news passes to the back page at some point, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen or it didn't have relevance and consequences. Kavanaugh may do ok, but he sure does bear watching. And his behavior and the GOP's behavior during his hearings may have even turned a number of elections over to "anyone but Trump/GOP."

The ironical part, screeching tires notwithstanding, is that you didn't get
what I was getting at:
Namely that, we do care because it's been done to us. I remember watching a 60 minutes type broadcast when the Russians invaded Ukraine, with a real army and not the "fake" caravan invasion of 2018; and listening to a Ukraine soldier say to a Russian soldier "the Americans are with us."
I may not be the brightest bulb in the house, but I think that means that the
Ukrainian people look to us to have their back. I found that interesting.
The soldier didn't say "hi fellas, we're glad you're here."
I don't know why I'm explaining this. You seem to have some semblance of intelligence, you know what I'm talking about. But noooooo, you want to play that game. Yes, we do care. Whatever the reason, we do care. There are people who actually give a shit, but you basically poo-poo their efforts and scream bloody "globalism." I thought you would have gotten my meaning from my word choice - "Putin interferes in another country's elections."
And why are you telling me all of this, when I'm agreeing with you (sarcastically, of course). But I'm bringing up a point. Of course you know this. That's why you are screaming at the top of your lungs - NO COLLUSION!
Putin has interfered in our elections, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this. And so, here we are. You believe as you do, and I believe as I do.

Yeah, I agree. Fuck them, why should we care if Putin interferes in another country's elections.
SHINY, everybody knew that Yanukovich was close to Russia. It's not like he was some deep dark secret; everyone knew who they were voting for when they voted.
And do you really think that us fomenting violence and picking the Ukrainians' next government for them was a good move ... for them? I mean, look where they are now: Did we really do them any big favors by "interfering" in their internal affairs?
IMHO there are almost no justifiable reasons to foment revolution in another nation. I don't care how hinky you think their elections were or whether you think their choice was bad: With few exceptions, violent "intervention" is the worst option
