Trump moves to punt three political problems until after the midterms

THE BIG IDEA: Responding to the pleas of Republican congressional leaders, President Trump appeared willing on Wednesday to temporarily back off three of his top priorities in a bid to save GOP majorities in the midterms.

The president moved to de-escalate his unpopular trade war, signaled that he’s no longer committed to shut down the federal government in October if the border wall isn’t fully funded and reluctantly relented on his rapprochement with Russia. After inviting Vladimir Putin to visit Washington in the fall with fanfare last week, the White House announced yesterday that he won’t come until 2019.

Hey T - I found the publisher to be incredibly naive in his questions for Trump. Trump doesn't care a wit for his journalists. In fact, it seems to me the 'Times publisher only reinforced that Trump's plan was working as hoped for.

What Trump said is that when he left the island there were no more than a dozen and a half deaths.

He didn't blame any hurricane related deaths on Democrats. He said that the MSM has taken a smaller pool of the number of people who die on average every year (particularly old people) and mis-attributed it to the hurricane.

Don't die on this hill, T. This is the type of bad reporting that leaves you with no argument, and just makes people who read past the headlines even more skeptical of the blatantly left leaning MSM.
