Russia is a hateful place at the moment. I blame Putin. America is displaying some of the same behaviors. I blame Trump. Both men have encouraged this and all the ugly heads are rearing. Off with their heads I say.

A metaphor is a figure of speech that directly refers to one thing by mentioning another for rhetorical effect. It may provide clarity or identify hidden similarities between two ideas.
What I said means, as they become emboldened and come out of the shadows because Trump and Putin are bigots, we need to call them out for their bigotry and racism. We need to drive them back under the rocks from whence them came.

I could have just gone with hypocrisy again, but that's getting just as boring as having to call you guys out on it all the time.
You're right though. It wasn't really irony at all considering the source. At this point we fully expect you to post things like this. If it were anybody else off the street though, the last sentence is ironic compared to the rest of the statement.
