All black is an iconic color combination. Simon looks morbid in it, even if he's not attending a funeral. I hope that his other outfits are like his white shirt, colorful vest combinations.
All black, all the time would make me wonder what the costume department is trying to say about his character in the movie. I keep on thinking about how Angel always wore black and dark colors because it went with his character's personality. I am also reminded of the Goths in Seattle who like black and whose favorite tagline is "It's tragic."
As for Wash, someone should have told the photographer that having him wear a sidearm is very out of character.
I wonder if he does more than fly the ship, spar with Zoe and play with dinosaurs in the movie? I hope not. I hope that the gun like Jewel said is just a prop. Wash is valuable the way that he is in the show because, like Kaylee, he brings levity to the other characters who are more intense and serious.
River does look to sane in this photo but after looking at other promotional photos, she doesn't look crazy in them either.
The look of the circular pattern in the cargo hold reminds me of the gate in Stargate.

Jewel, it always makes my day when you post. (And the other BDHs, too, of course!) Thanks for clearing up some of the misconceptions. The only thing I found disturbing about the photo was that Mal's pants aren't tight enough. (No, I'm kidding. Sort of.) You look lovely, as always, and I so want your outfit! And Summer's dress. I like that you referred to everyone in the photo by their characters' names, not by the actors' names. :) See, it's things like that that make Firefly real to me - 'cause it seems to be real to you all, too. Although I'm gnashing my teeth over having to wait five more months for the movie, I'm telling myself that you and Joss and Adam surely know what you're talking about, and if it were a bad thing, you would say so. Rest assured, the delay changes nothing except the wait time! I will still see the movie over and over and drag all my friends to see it until they are mindless money-spending Firefly-lovin' zombies. Thanks for posting!
