That's a good question. We're coming on two straight years of a temper tantrum and nothing has changed. All the celebrating about the house and senate supposedly going Democrat seems to even have died down. I'm not sure how much anybody even believes that at this point. I'm actually hoping that at least one of them flip, since as I've said many times before I think our two political parties do the most damage to the nation when they control all 3 branches.
The Democrats in 2018 are completely lost. They have no real message, and they're still feeling the backlash of all of their policies and push back against their current way of going about issues.

The Democrats can’t win enough control in the Senate to do anything in 2019. The politicians know it. But do the D voters? Not very many do. Too many D voters childishly believe in miracles, rather than numbers, and when the miracle doesn’t happen in November 2018, the miracle that the Democrats take control of the Senate, some of the D voters will swing over to become R voters in 2020. Their logic is laughably stupid: If the D politicians can’t change the system, then maybe the R politicians can.
Republicans need to win only nine senate races to keep a majority, and Democrats need to win 28 to take it away.
Five of Senate seats the Democrats need — the ones in West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, Missouri and Indiana — are in states that President Trump won by 18 percentage points or more.
Just how bad is this map for Democrats? It’s bad enough that it may be the worst Senate map that any party has faced ever, or at least since direct election of senators began in 1913. It’s bad enough that Democrats could conceivably gain 35 or 40 seats in the House … and not pick up the two seats they need in the Senate.
Check out the race-by-race ratings put forward by independent groups such as the Cook Political Report, Inside Elections and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. They suggest that Democrats are more likely to lose Senate seats next year than to gain them — and that while there’s a plausible path to a Democratic majority, it’s a fairly unlikely one.

Your explanation of it all is bound to draw some ire from the Leftists on the board, but I don't see any real argument to it.
Their entire platform right now is "Russia!" and everybody who doesn't agree with us is a racist, sexist, homophobe, islamophobe.... yanno... Hillary's quote that still loudly reverberates 2 years later in every Leftist echo chamber in June of 2018.
I'm hoping after another crushing defeat in 2018 that they figure this out and start focusing on stuff that matters.
