I watched the pilot episode last Wednesday in the U.K !

I was impressed, I mean when I heard about the whole Earth exploding, Alien rescues a group of astronauts etc... I thought it'll be crap BUT

It was really good, very different...

Most scifi shows are effects there and there, not much character-driven. Odyssey 5 is great, in that it deals with the characters first.

Reminds me of Farscape...WHY IS IT CANCELLED ! SCIFI SUCKS ! BRING BACK THE SHOW, please

Cool!!! I finally read a post from someone else who likes Odyssey 5. I get Showtime, and I've seen all 14 episodes that have aired. I basically caught the pilot episode by accident when it aired the first time. I found myself really fascinated by it.

The pilot is no fluke. This really is an excellent show, and it is progressing toward something very promising. I fully agree that the show's first priority is its characters and how they might live their lives facing Earth's impending destruction.

Odssey 5 looks good but if I got Showtime the Sci-fi show I'd like most to see would be Jeremiah. Oh well, since their on cable I'm sure DVDs of Season 1 will be coming out fairly quickly.

An interesting note on Odssey 5: The Executive Producers are among the more experienced Sci-Fi producers out there as Jonathan Glassner has been an Executive Producer for The INvisible Man, Stargate SG-1, and THe Outer Limits. While fellow Executive Producer Tracy Torme was the co-creator/Executive Producer for Sliders. Toss in the fact that WRiter/Consulting PRoducer Alan Brennert was one of the main people behind the semi-successfull New Twilight Zone (1985) and you have quite a bit of Sci-Fi experience lined up for the show. An interesting notion in the "fresh idea", youth-worshiping culture of TV executives: Experience working .

"It looks like a great adventure...That's what it is; that's what it feels like. When I saw the pilot, it was really engaging. It was exciting. It was unusual. It threw me off every now and then. I think people will be grabbed by it." - Ron Glass, on the pilot, during an interview with the Indianapolis Star

Hi William

Firstly, you can get into the Official Site by going via www.anonymizer.com - you won't be able to access everything, but its a start. I got a nice desktop background from there.

Secondly I love Odyssey 5, I think it is absolutely the best thing on television right now. I have heard it described as a natural successor to the X Files, but speaking as a minor X Files fan, I think Odyssey 5 is far superior. The dialogue is the big hook I think. The characters feel quite real, considering their professions and experiences.

As far as I can tell there aren't that many great fansites for O5, the best one I have seen is:

alternatively you can have a look at the following:

There are a bunch of us on www.ascifi.com who like to dissect each episode after the UK airing here - http://www.ascifi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=1311

It still hasn't been renewed for a second season - I really hope Showtime get up off their butts on this one.

Thanks Tabitha :)

I just joined the ascifi.com forum, and checked out the official site. I thought I'd never find a website. Cheers

No problem. I have been toying with the idea of making my own fansite for the show. But time contraints are a little extreme for me just now. Maybe over Christmas I will work on it :D

As if Firefly's cancellation wasn't bad enough, I just found this article on sci-fi wire:
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2002-12/26/10.00.tv

Apparently, those f*****s at Showtime have cancelled Odyssey 5 for no justifiable reason whatsoever. This was their highest rated show!!! Well, I think they lost this viewer.

Odyssey 5 was a fantastic show. Did anyone ever see every episode?
Showtime didn't show the last 6.

Anyways if anyone wants to know where to help save Odyssey 5 go here

or the message boards

If you didn't see the last episode then you should try to download it or something. It was the best one of the Show, it had one of the best clif-hangers I have ever seen.

Anyways thats all for me.

After the treatment my two favorite new shows from 2002 have received, I may never try out another show that hasn't gone through at least a full season. I am disgusted with the lack of corporate interest in decent quality entertainment.
