The Hollywood left will now leap into action and bash the NRA. When it comes sexual abuse, corporate greed and union corruption the entertainment industry is at the top, they make the oil and banking industries look like saints. The Washington Post is working on a story about sexual harassment at CBS News, so stories about on the sexcapades of the entertainment and news worlds will continue. I think the scary thing here is that it's pretty likely that these types of "games" happen a lot more than we'd ever like to imagine when it comes to anybody who has power and money. Whether it be people as meaningless in the long run as actors and actresses, or as powerful as high ranking politicians.

I'm not just going to believe everything written here about it, and it is most likely the case that many people in this organization, such as Kristen Kurek, did not actually know of any of these alleged acts that were going on within it if they are actually true. It just makes sense that if you were putting something together that you'd want to have a lot of semi-high profile people on the outside of it all that could just laugh and say "lol... sure thing wacko. I bet you believe the earth is flat and 9/11 was an inside job too".

It's pretty interesting that People magazine reported on it. The rest of the links don't seem to be any high profile or "respected" news outlets. Is this getting any coverage at all from the MSM?

What's also interesting to me is that there's really no mention of any male's being blackmailed or put into subordinate positions. I'm wondering if that is an expected oversight, or if this is indeed a cult that only subjugates women. My guess is the former.

NXIVM (/'n?ksi?m/ NEKS-ee-?m) is an American multi-level marketing company based near Albany, New York that offered personal and professional development seminars through its "Executive Success Programs". NXIVM has been described as a cult and a pyramid scheme. It has also been alleged to be a recruiting platform for a secret society (variously called "DOS" or "The Vow") in which women were branded and forced into sexual slavery.

In early 2018, NXIVM founder Keith Raniere and his associate, actress Allison Mack, were arrested and indicted on federal charges related to DOS, including sex trafficking. Others associated with NXIVM were also charged with federal crimes. As of April 2018, five people associated with NXIVM--Mack, NXIVM co-founder Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman, Clare Bronfman, and bookkeeper Kathy Russell--had pleaded guilty to various charges. Raniere's trial is scheduled to begin on May 7, 2019.

In 2006, actress Kristin Kreuk became involved with NXIVM, and Salzman and her daughter Lauren went to Vancouver to recruit Kreuk's Smallville co-star Allison Mack. The younger Salzman (herself a junior NXIVM leader) bonded with Mack and the latter became involved, although Kreuk would subsequently leave NXIVM. Mack became "an enthusiastic proselytizer" for NXIVM, persuading her parents to take courses, and, after wrapping production of Smallville in 2011, moved to Clifton Park, New York near NXIVM's home-base in Albany. March to April 2007 saw a string of donations from NXIVM participants to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, with over a dozen participants donating the maximum allowable figure of $2,300. The donations totalled $29,900.

The World Ethical Foundations Consortium (an organization co-founded by Clare and Sara Bronfman and Raniere) sponsored a visit to Albany by the 14th Dalai Lama in 2009. The visit was initially cancelled due to negative press surrounding NXIVM, but was rescheduled, and the Dalai Lama spoke at Albany's Palace Theatre in May 2009. Subsequently, in 2017, Lama Tenzin Dhonden (the self-styled "Personal Emissary for Peace for the Dalai Lama," who had arranged the appearance) was suspended from his position amid corruption charges; the investigation also revealed a personal relationship between Dhonden and Sara Bronfman, which began in 2009.

As of 2010, NXIVM reportedly had "thriving outposts" in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Vancouver.

NXIVM has been described as a pyramid scheme, a sex-trafficking operation, a cult,and a sex cult. A report by the Ross Institute described its seminars as "expensive brainwashing." In a 2010 article in the Albany Times Union, former NXIVM coaches characterized students as "prey" for use by Raniere in satisfying his sexual or gambling-related proclivities. Kristin Keeffe (a longtime partner of Raniere and mother of his child) left the group in 2014, describing Raniere
