I still haven't seen Paradox, but I re-watched 10 Cloverfield Lane last weekend with my Dad and brother who have never seen it before. My brother had seen the original and somehow the entire Cloverfield franchise was under my Dad's radar. I know he watches the Superbowl every year "for the commercials", so i thought it was kind of funny that Cloverfield wasn't ringing any bells for him. Maybe he was in the bathroom when that commercial aired.
I have to say on a second viewing I actually liked JJ's re-shoots at the end of the movie this time. I'm not sure if it's because of the second viewing or because of the company I watched it with. I remember thinking to myself before it was over "instead of watching that cliche alien invasion movie everybody else watched, we got to instead see what two young adults were doing in a bunker with a madman during the first stage of Armageddon.... pretty cool".
I liked it even better on the second viewing.
My Dad really liked it, a lot. I figured he would, but I thought that was pretty interesting seeing as how he didn't even know what Cloverfield was and never saw the first one.
Speaking of re-shoots... I think I found a few more that were in the movie that were a lot more subtle than the alien stuff at the end. MEW had that bottle of booze in her car at the beginning. The same bottle she used to throw the molotov cocktail that saved her life in the end. Also, later when she's stitching up Goodman and they drank his bootleg liquor, he makes mention that it was unfortunate that he didn't have time to go back out and get her liquor from his truck.
Both of those things could have been in the movie originally, but I'm thinking it's more likely that they were added after the fact. I wonder......

While looking up Hurricane Heist saw that Melissa Bolona was in 8 films last year, 9 films in 2016, and also a bunch this year.
Sheesh.

This week A Quiet Place, next week Submergence, then on Pot Day a couple more.
I haven't seen ads for Submergence.

Solo: A Star Wars Story.
With Emelia Clarke and Thandie Newton, I was already in. Director Ron Howard directing Jon Favreau as an actor, in Sci Fi, tickles me a bit. I had thought Thandie had a smaller part, but she has billing at the top of the poster - a good sign for the film.
So, Emelia Clarke, Felicity Jones, Daisy Ridley have wrapped up what could be supremely iconic roles of Sci Fi.
Raising at least 2 questions.
Has the Star Wars franchise depleted the supply of fresh British actresses, or who is next in queue? Maisie Williams?
Have Hollywood actresses sufficiently dragged themselves through the mud of their career empowerment, or will they grasp for some potential career-developing roles?

This week on Pot Day is Super Troopers 2.
Plus Cloverfield, which I am really looking forward to, largely based on the cast.

I didn't know it came out already. If I remember I'll check KODI tonight and let you know if it's up there yet. They'd likely only have bootleg versions unless the official cut was already leaked, but it would tell you if it is in at least some theaters.
Some of these bootleggers are artists man, and with the cameras available today the picture and audio is great. Sometimes it's cooler to watch a bootleg than the real flick because you can get all of the good things of the theater experience without actually having to sit through a miserable theater experience.
"A Scanner Darlky" and "The Hunger Games" were two movies I saw that were bootlegged phenomenally well and the audience reaction in some spots were priceless.
