I just realized what year it was.

I saw Serenity in cinema when it came out.
I found Firefly in August 2007 in a SyFy Marathon.
Bought a DVD set so I could have them all to watch.
Eventually I bought a DVD Player to play the DVDs, and then a TV to watch the playback. That was around Thanksgiving 2007.

Eventually I bought more DVDs.
So, my DVD collection started 10 years ago. And now my DVDs are all over the place.

All because of Firefly.

DVDs? Ain’t you all fancy smancy?

These were my good friends during the Dark Times of 2003, before the DVD set came out.

Well, I do have many VHS around, just not Firefly. Some works are not available on DVD.

Did the last 4 eps get shown on cable, after 2002?

The external hard drive is for Back Up:

MAL Where's the back up? Where's the back up?

He and Wash are frantically flipping buttons -- the ship whirs to a semblance of life --

ZOE Back up reads at 20%...
(to Wash)
Can you get us down?

WASH I'm gonna have to glide her in!

The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly

IIRC, the 3 unaired eps first premiered during the summer of ‘03 on the UK SciFi Channel.

Is that UK channel shown in the US, or were you in UK?

Fairly certain Firefly was first complete set of anything that I bought on DVD.

I pretty much stopped buying DVDs after serenity. With all the digital downloading and what not, I didn’t see the reason anymore.

I don’t know if I even bought any movie since serenity except for Deadpool. And that one I have stored on my older Xbox. Just a couple days ago however I did buy two more DVDs.

Godzilla 2014, and Godzilla King of the Monsters.

I saw the latter two times when it was in theaters, and didn’t feel like waiting for it to come around again to the Beer Tavern type of theater. Figured I’d save the money and just buy the DVD out right. Plus I’m guessing it’ll come with extras? I’ll probably still see it in the beer tavern anyways.

I love being able to watch the DVD of my choice, when I want, with the pauses I want.
With the slew of storms we've had lately, I am regularly reminded that the incoming feeds are interrupted so much, and even when not interrupted, the digital cliff is pretty sad - I only bother to suffer through it for sports. But the connection from my DVD player to big screen is quite reliable, regardless of weather.

Serenity is one of extremely rare films which I can actually see a difference in the HD (Bluray) viewing - and I have NEVER seen Serenity in HD other than via DVD, The theater screenings with CSTS are abysmal since Universal destroyed all of the film prints, with the video looking almost as bad as skype.

After watching those reaction vids ( posted in another thread ) I really dislike how they reworked the River escape story from what was laid down in Firefly, the series. Other than that, and Mal surviving and shaking off being run clear though by a sword to end up beating the Operative, I love the movie.

RIP Wash.
