MOSCOW — Russia’s Bolshoi Theater has canceled a much-anticipated ballet about dancer Rudolf Nureyev just three days before the opening night, a development that got many in Moscow’s art scene to speak of a return to censorship.
The Russian Culture Ministry on Monday confirmed reports that the decision was announced after the minister had a chat with the theater’s director but denied exerting any pressure on Russia’s legendary institution.

The position seems to agree with the widespread impression that things are not going well in the paradigmatic liberal democracies. Generally, he endorses the claim made famous by Winston Churchill, that “democracy is the worst system of government, except for all the others.” He claims that Russia and China, and other authoritarian systems, in contrast, have little soft-power appeal. Most people wouldn't want to go and live there. The U.S. Has been the paradigm example of a large democracy in the post-WWII world, but it shows signs of wear and decay—as with some other larger-scale democracies. Fukuyama complains of “vetocracy,” not only in the U.S., but also other countries such as Greece, India and Ukraine. The idea is that power in western democracies has been “captured by elites” who can veto anything which crosses their interests; and it will take some shock to the system to get needed reforms.

Addressing the innuendo that perhaps French and German elections were hacked - as usual no evidence was provided. However, since Germany's federal elections haven't been held yet (they're scheduled for 24 September 2017) it's premature to say they've 'been' hacked. As for France's elections, the NSA claims Russia hacked them. French intelligence says it doesn't appear to be a state actor, and refuses to assign it to anyone or any country. Looking into whether or not Russia 'hacked' the US election, the two major claims were based on the notion that Russia 'hacked' the DNC; and also 'hacked' Podesta's emails. However, US intelligence was never allowed to look at the DNC servers. All information came from whatever CrowdStrike released to them, and its comments made about them. And 'all' 17 US intelligence agencies didn't conclude Russia 'hacked' the servers, only 4 did, and only three with 'high confidence'. Less has been made of the Podesta emails. Buy they too weren't directly investigated by US intelligence agencies. Instead "Researchers from the Atlanta-based cybersecurity firm Dell SecureWorks" came to that conclusion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podesta_emails So both 'hacks' were attributed to Russia by private security firms; and US intelligence never directly investigated any evidence - it merely echoed both the data and conclusions it was given.

The social media behemoth announced on its blog today that it is in the process of building a tool to allow users to see which posts from the Russian Internet Research Agency—now the Federal News Agency, or FAN—appeared in their feeds during the 20-month period between January 2015 and August 2016.
The move is part of the company’s “ongoing effort to protect our platforms and the people who use them from bad actors who try to undermine our democracy,” wrote a Facebook spokesperson in an un-bylined post.
