But there is still more to be said (Isn't there always?):
The Republican Party has long billed itself as being for family values, for the dignity of work, for lower taxes, and (at least, as the minority party) for balanced budgets. The House GOP tax bill cuts against all of these positions.
It would raise taxes on about one-third of the middle class by 2027. By eliminating the estate tax, it would benefit heirs of large estates, even if they don’t work a day in their life. Meanwhile, by eliminating some tax breaks often claimed by higher earners, the plan would raise taxes on many upper-middle class households. As a result, the bill would ironically privilege the “idle rich” over the “working rich.” And by slashing corporate taxes by several trillion dollars, it would raise deficits by trillions of dollars, even according to the most pro-Republican analyses.

Huh....
Can't remember exactly what Second's signature did. It had something to do with the link at the end. Doesn't seem to be happening here now though.
I noticed that the last few posts from Second didn't have a sig at all. It's not a bad thing to have in the signature so it's a shame to remove it instead of just fixing it. I'll have to just point it out again if I ever have problems with it in the future.

Now, getting back to politics. I am posting this only because it may make it possible for the democrats to win an Alabama Senate seat. It would be a tremendous win if they do.

6ixStringJack and second both watched Firefly and Serenity, but that does not make us friendly and agreeable members of the same polite tribe. Quoting from the article: Opinions aren’t formed in a vacuum, they’re formed in life, and in life, one is always surrounded by tribes enforcing worldviews in millions of explicit and implicit ways. Knowledge and motivation are social phenomena, not individual phenomena. Even if conservatives could be convinced of “free market” solutions to climate change, show me more than a handful of conservatives willing to prioritize their alleged fealty to free markets over the good opinion of their peers and tribal leaders. Show me a GOP politician willing to put their alleged fealty to free markets over the good opinion of their constituents and their chances of reelection.

This was in September 2016, while Flynn was a top surrogate in Donald Trump’s campaign. And Flynn was the guy who Trump originally chose as his National Security Advisor.
