Other than Book or Wash.
Joss has been known to kill off characters on a whim. And The Verse is a bit of a harsh environment.
I'm thinking that for Firefly, perhaps Bendis from the Pilot Serenity, one version of it - or else Crow from The Train Job.
Crow wasn't highly likeable, but as a character he was impressive.
Bendis was a bit whiney, but Mal seemed to like him.
The buyer Bolles in War Stories seemed jovial and friendly, but just seemed to survive too briefly.
Nandy holds a special place as the fulfillment of the Capt Kirk legacy, for Mal and our show.
For Serenity, I think Mr. Universe or his Lovebot. The kid that Kaylee plays with on New Haven didn't have enough screen time.
A death of a different sort was Sheydra. She was deleted in the editing, but I liked her in the Deleted Scenes, and the script - perhaps largely because she was the friend of Inara that we didnt really see. IIRC the only one we see besides Nandy.
What are your favorites?

In terms of which deaths I was most invested in, I think I have to go with either Nandi or Tracey.
Nandi as a kind of foil to Mal, someone else who has a leadership position in their found family. Plus she finally pushes the Inara/Mal story forward.
I didn't really like Tracey. His death felt unnecessary, and The Message is perhaps my least favorite episode. And yet, I was sad to see him go. I liked getting to see how Mal and Zoe and Tracey all handled the war so differently.

While trying to look up Kim Myers as Sheydra, I noticed Glenn Howerton has gotten some work since dying in BDM. I must have seen him in some.

Oh man! I never realized the "Lilac Young Tough" was Glenn Howerton!
