Meh. Nick. I would've gone with the pnac list, Agh, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Dudan, Yemen, Syria, Iran. But seeing as we might have just bombed a Chinese base in Syria, Maybe you're right. I think it was a move to fake out the deep state, and no actual war is coming. Of course Putin will be forced to do something to please his people, who will not be happy if he just twiddles his thumbs.

Marco Rubio is on my TV right now calling this a great thing. "It's not a message, it's an actual degrading of their capabilities." If Obama had done something like this, Rubio would have contemptuously called it a pinprick.

It is a pin prick. It does however show how weak Russia is. Their allies, our bombs, they do nothing. Now, guns to the Ukraine would be a next good step.

Yanno, having worked in a chemical weapons detection project once upon a time, I can tell you a lot about them.
First of all, Sarin, Tabun, and similar compounds are unstable. If you make them under less-than-ideal circumstances and aren't able to purify them sufficiently, not only will you have telltale impurities and side products, which can pinpoint the "batch", but will also cause the CW to degrade.
So military manufacturers add stabilizers, which also help pinpoint who made the CW, since different mfrs use different stabilizers. Also, even with stabilizers they don't have a long shelf life. It's not like Assad could have "held back" CW from the roundup in 2014 and still have them viable three years later.
Also, when investigating what happened and who is to blame, you have to look for the remnants of a delivery system: many rocket tailfins of suitable type and standard manufacture, for example, if this was sourced from the Syrian Army.
So collecting actual samples of CW residues and finding strike points of actual CW missiles would be part of reasonable investigation.
