This is definitely true: "boomers who, despite their hippie reputation, are net Republican." The first vaguely political book I ever bought was Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot by Senator Al Franken of Minnesota. In stark contrast, an actual Baby Boomer that I know began filling his library in 1999 with all of Rush Limbaugh’s books because, according the boomer, “Rush tells it like it is.”

Since then, I’ve prospered while the former long-haired hippy turned to Rush reading sociopath of a boomer is now a foaming-at-mouth Republican whose life has gone to hell – losing jobs, making bad decisions, buying a Harley motorcycle and crashing it, you name the stereotypical boomer stupidity and he has done it, culminating in voting for and defending Trump. Reading Rush will rot your brain. That baby boomer who read Rush for the last 18 years definitely has had his brain damaged.

I don't listen to any one source too long or exclusively. If he really was listening only to Rush (and one could assume only other people that Rush recommended), then that is a problem because you become completely biased and shut everything else out. At some point it's really not much different than joining Scientology.

You seem to be taking that to the extreme though and saying that the only reason that he has made many poor life choices is because he listened to Rush. And you double down on it by, once again, flaunting your great lifestyle and saying the only reason that you are doing so well is because you're a left extremist yourself.

Rush did not tell him to crash his Harley. And if he is truly brain damaged and that's not just you insulting anybody who doesn't see things your way again, I'm going to say that the source of that brain damage was much more likely the motorcycle crash than reading books by Rush.

I remember buying Dianetics from something I saw on TV back when I was like 20 and super stoned. That was 17 years and 5 addresses ago, and to this day I still get a very heavy mailer from them about every 2-3 months. It's creepy. They have probably spent over $100 in production costs and postage trying to recruit me for the better part of two decades after I spent $30 bucks on a Dianetics starter kit.

What's $100 bucks when you charge somebody $50,000 to be "clear", right?

That being said, I did find the book fascinating at the time. I tried getting my uncle to read it and he started to get pissed when I pushed it. He was a very non-practicing Catholic that didn't ever preach about it, but he knew something was wrong with them years before knocking on Scientology was cool.

Do people who can’t think listen to Rush? Or does listening to Rush diminish thinking? Yes to both, I say.

A typical day at www.rushlimbaugh.com/ will have Rush telling misleading stories and making claims or drawing conclusions he can’t prove. This goes on for hours and tomorrow Rush will do it again and the same listeners will be back. What kind of person would listen to Rush? Do they have all their marbles? No they don’t, but I am drawing my conclusion from a small sample size of Texas Republicans whose personal incompetence in the biggest decisions of life is noteworthy. Where you are from, whatever state, maybe, just maybe, Rush listeners are not a bunch of dumb asses in the real world. You are very lucky. (By "dumb ass" I don't mean Republican. I mean they make dumb mistakes that cost money, jobs, marriages and health. These aren't trivial mistakes. One has two strikes: negligent homicide and accidental poisoning of his wife. She is very dead. I'll add a little moral: pay less attention to what Trump or Rush say and more attention to their own lives.)

I met a guy form neopets online, in '08, after having met others in Kansas in '06. I ended up corresponding with him, and he helped me set up my store, and I talked him into going digital with the info push, and trimming it down to a manageable size. I guess he was in charge of the massive distributiong and I was saving him from wasting money, so I didn't end up getting bombarded. I think this is true of any organization: If you come in on the top floor, you get treated very different from if you walk in through the front door. That might explain some of the Tom-Katie stuff.

Also, $50k ? If the religion works, then the information should be free (and, i'm sure, is, posted all over the place. There's a large scientologist heretic community.) I've thought of getting together stuff that fits into Hubbard's spectrum by other people at times, but thten again, I've also thought of entering their contest and never did it. I should really write more.

You're going to tell me about claims Rush makes that can't be proven and then with a straight face tell me that Republicans you know in your area are incompetent enough to accidentally poison their wives either because they listened to Rush and got brain damage or were brain damaged enough in the first place to listen to Rush?

I'd LOVE to know how much money Tom has given to the "Church". Or John Travolta, or that kid from the 70's show, or the laundry list of Hollywood celebs who have bought into it. I'll bet none of them were ever asked for a single cent, but they've given much more than the church would expect from you or I.

Have you ever read the book? It's the only one by him that I've ever read, and I thought it was amazing at the time. Then again, I was only 20 years old and essentially an entirely different person than I am now, so I don't know if I'd say the same today. You got to remember that back then was before most folk were even on the internet and really the only thing most of us knew about Scientology was that John Travolta was into it. That was years before South Park kind of blew it all up and exposed them to the world and Anonymous had their fun with them. I don't think I could give it a fair evaluation for a second read now because I'd be going into it thinking it was a cult recruiting tool instead of the self-help/psychology book that it was marketed as back then.
