Well, it's a proven fact that Winter does, in fact, come after fall. So, yes, Winter is coming.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've not read the Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R. Martin. "Winter is coming" is a quote from those books - and it doesn't indicate pleasant times by the fire with a steaming mug of cocoa.

Wow, Mr. Martin's vision of America is just as fictional as his novels.
Most of the "woes" the US is facing began years ago.
The "future of war" has been going on for a decade or so.
The "isolation" abroad ignores the very real global political realignment. We don't need allies like France who turn away when we ask them for help. We don't need the support of the UN that is corrupted by money and sexual misconduct at its highest levels (we do that well enough ourselves, but at least we get a vote in who runs us). But in a changing world we have new allies in Eastern Europe, stronger allies in countries like Italy, Spain, and Britain, and lets not forget our good friends in Kuwait and our new allies of Iraq and Afganistan. Not to mention 30 to forty others. I'd rather be "isolated" with a few dozen friends then engaged to 3 or 4 enemies, but then I've never been married, so who knows.
The "division" at home is what happens from time to time in a real Democracy, after all Saddam got 97% or the vote in his last election.
And the "repression" is no worse then its ever been, meaning that our Democracy is a work in progress and always has been. It'll never be "perfect" so we have to settle for "more perfect".
That being said: WE WON WE WON WE WON HAHAHAHAHA YOU CAN KISS MY HAIRY BLACK A...er...DOG! (Sorry, I keep forgeting we're not supposed to mention color.)
Oh, and Mr. Martin needs to realize that he might be a liberal, but the heroes of his books seem to be conservative.
