Whoa! When were they on Total Request Live?! Any beautiful bean footage of that?
As for "Castle", the show shoulda definitely ended after season 7. Hollander's Woods coulda easily been used as a dignified series finale. All major plots were resolved, and Castle even got an awards' banquet with all his friends and family. And it woulda been better than the show running out of gas, steam, and minor guest stars*. Sure, Jewel Staite just guested, and the episode was actually closer to a normal quality, but it was also forgettable (another episode about theatre?) and the killer was easily guessable. Maybe Nathan can do Alan Tudyk's "Con Man" more than part time, now.
*The guy who was the auctioneer killer from season 3 'Last Call', I spotted a few episodes ago driving Castle's British assistant who's name escapes me.
Bummer.
I didn't see any head's-up for Jewel's episode. Gotta watch for the reruns now, I guess.
Episode 20 was aired 2 May. Just a couple weeks too late.

Well I finally caught up with the season. Talk about going out with a whimper. That last episode did not do the series justice at all IMO.

The whole season long mystery of locksat didn't even end up making sense. The guy in charge seemed to have no CIA background. How exactly did he end up in that position of power in the first place?
The little flash forward scene to give closure seemed silly too. I'd almost rather have it end in tragedy that some silly happy future. They should have just shot a funeral scene and ended it there.

Same way the heads of VA, IRS, AG, TSA got their jobs without being jailed.

I'm right there with ya, Zeek. Kind of a disappointing send off.
It's too bad they couldn't do a fully planned finale. My ideal one would have in it at some point a scene (preferably as a fade to black end) of a FUN* prolonged witty back and forth banter between Rick and Kate.

There are some obvious rookie tactical and survival faux pas in this one. ALL of the SWAT guys going through the front door of killer's house!? They all conveniently forgot houses have back doors.
After the life or death fight with the old lockset guy in the basement (he goes through the whole trouble of installing magnets in the ceiling, but then gets taken down melee style in not too much time), at no point when the guy is down do our heroes make sure he's dead, or if not, finish the job or make damn sure if he does get up he won't be able to do anything. I thought if anyone was gonna die it would
One thing that was great was Nathan's acting in the real interrogation scene. IMO that was pretty powerful. (It's just allergies...) Felt reminiscent of the ep when Alexis got kidnapped and he was asking if she got killed in the van.
I just recently watched "Drive" from my Amazon library, so when Castle squeezed that IV bag, he seemed to be channeling Alex Tully!
On such short notice, I wonder how many ammo crates Espo, Ryan and the backup brought with them?
As for the very end, because they tacked on the "Seven years later" thing on what was supposed to be a cliffhanger, it makes it a bit confusing. A)Is it real? B)Is it the most common denominator ideal future that Castle and Beckett are clinging to as their last thoughts? If 'B' then why put subtitles to it? Probably to much thinking for the writers could actually do with it.
*That thing that the show is supposed to be.

Caught the show when it first aired, and liked it. Stayed with it for a couple of seasons, but then missed some eps, caught up a bit in reruns, but after a while... I kinda got over the whole ' will they/ won't they ' routine. Been there, toooo many times.
So, have to ask... is impolite to bring up some of the not so happy moments between Nathan and Stana ?
Seems from those who claim to know, they were really tired of each other towards the end of the series. Word is, Nathan was a huge jerk to her, so much so it drove her to tears.
That don't sound like our Nathan. I'd hate for it to be true. Even if she turned out to be some shrew / diva, and he simply got tired of her, I'd still like to think he'd take the high road...
I don't know these folks. No interest to pry into their lives more than they're willing to share, but from all accounts I've seen / heard, Nathan wouldn't be that big of a jerk unless he was given cause... but what do I know.

Nathan reminds me of my husband in so many ways, except I'm not attracted to Nathan.
They are both joke-around guys, and that kind of thing can get INFURIATING when you are trying to get something done. He's been in the Biz a bit longer, so he prolly knows when you can push it with the job, but.... if I didn't love hubby, I'd have pushed him in a wood chipper years ago
That said, Stana looks like a stick in the mud, which probably didn't help. When Nathan was being interviewed years ago when Castle was in season one or two they asked him rapid fire questions and one was "Inara or Kate" and he said "INARA" and then he winced because he knew he messed up professionally and should have said "Kate" to promote the show. I knew right in that second there was something amiss there.
We'll probably never get the whole story and this is just a guess on my part, but honey you KNOW it takes two to tango.

It's just usually the guys fault in these matters, regardless of the facts. And Nathan sorta has a fun loving rep & all, I just found this a bit of an anomaly to all else I've heard. True measure of how good they are when their on screen chemistry is so convincing...
How aren't you attracted to Nathan ? I even have a bit of bro-mance crush on the guy.
In a totally straight and normal way, of course.

I don't know anything about the drama between Nathan and Stana, but I agree that she seems to be a stick in the mud. Anytime I've seen her interviewed she's extremely reserved and looks like she thinks through everything twice before saying a word. Not that she's a bad person, but I could see those personalities clashing. At the same time I've seen blooper reels where she's joking around on set. So, she's not totally straight laced.
The only other thing I have to go on is that when there was talk of continuing Castle without Kate the actress who played Castle's daughter said that Nathan IS Castle. I assume she's implying he is the show not just the character. It could be her trying to keep the show alive for a paycheck or it could be the kids deciding which parent they like more after the divorce.
Really unless we get some tell all interviews with the cast and crew I don't think we can say who was at fault in the tension between the two.
