And in regards to this thread, I must say I am all for it, being a Republican, BUT if Kerry had won, I can't imagine reaching across party lines to embrace his ideology. So I won't expect too much from our Democratic friends in that regard. Least of all 'Tash.

I'm not looking to have my ideology embraced. I'm just looking not to have my intelligence insulted. I'm not stupid because I voted for Bush; I just have different views. I'm simply asking for everyone on this board to acknowledge everyone else's right to hold differing opinions without say hateful things like "damn you" to them that disagree. Last I checked, votes were for figuring who was for who. When did people starting using it to figure out who to hate? I'm just saying...

What makes us so interesting is our diversity and passion. I would not see us use those qualities to fuel arguements amongst ourselves.
I have my beliefs on politics, and a strong sense of right and wrong, but I keep them to myself. Nothing will start an arguement faster than a discussion on the topic of politics or religion.

I would not say that everyone hates Bush. There are many that do not agree w/ his choices or his stand on things, but there has never been a president that everyone agrees with all the time.

I agree w/ what Kerry said that the country is divided. It needs to heal. We as a country need to come together and support one another and allow the rift between Democrats and Republicans to heal and work together for a stronger, prosperous America. We can't do that if we are constantly moving to counterbalance or block one another.
I do think that it is up to Bush to step up to the plate and show that the trust placed in him by the American public is not misplaced. He needs to lead! He needs to address the concerns of the people of this country. All the people, not just special interest groups, or big business, or Republicans. He needs to remember that first and foremost he is President of the United States, not just one party or the other.

I agree with this sentiment InevitableBetrayal. I know that Browncoats are up to the task, I just hope the rest of the country is as well.

Both candidates have expressed this sentiment of reconciliation, which I agree with. I just find it ironic coming from those individuals and groups that have been deepening the divide by demonizing the opposition for over a year.
I have never found fanaticism particularly attractive and the tendency to find no fault with one's own group and only faults with one's opposition is what has most galled me about the debate on the boards. Sometimes it is just emotions running hot and we all succumb to passion from time to time, at least I know I have.
There are issues I side with the Liberals and issues I side with the Conservatives and issues I disagree with both of them. I didn't like Bush, I didn't vote for him, but I can hardly see him doing anything to stay on after four years.
