While watching the DVDs through again, I'd like to keep in mind what fans like most about the scenes and episodes.
Lines, scenes, non-verbals, deleted scenes, bloopers, scripted but not filmed scenes, and commentary are all up for discussion.
There has been a series of threads pertaining to the individual episodes, starting with Pilot Serenity:

I think it would be good to mention a scene in the series, and also a scene in the Motion Picture Serenity.
We can start with items revolving around The Captain.
There is something of a defining scene for Mal at the end of Pilot Serenity, which was not originally aired until all other aired episodes had been. To Simon, "When I kill you, you will be awake, you will be facing me, you will be armed."
There is also a decisive nature about him like when he exchanges Bester for Kaylee.
I think my series favorite is in Ariel, when Mal wrenches Jayne. The latter part of this episode was my first exposure to the series, during a SyFy marathon, and this action made me want to watch more.
For Cinema release Serenity, methinks "I can't know that" regarding betwixt Kaylee's nethers. His explanation for how he knows Inara's invitation is a TRAP! also works.
What are your favorites for Mal?
This is the first in a series of similar topic. Other threads:

Even a man like Malcolm Reynolds has a limit to his chivalry.

"Our Mrs. Reynolds" - his reaction when Saffron offers to wash his feet.
BDM - "Yes, I've read a poem, try not to faint."

OK. I'm lost, I'm angry, and I'm armed.

This isn't exactly my "favorite" but it happens that I am currently watching episode 5 of a new show called "The Brave" and at about the 18:35 mark one character says to his boss-guy (can you tell I'm not in the military?) "... things are getting interesting out here." The boss-guy says, "Define interesting." The first guy never answers him, but I said "Oh, God, oh, God, we're all gonna die" on his behalf.
