What was the first music record, CD that you bought?

the first album I bought with my own money was Endless Sumemr, Beach Boys. I had tons of the Disney 45s, you know the Davy Crockett tyoe stuff.
The first CD was Best Shots, Pat Benatar.
The first MP3 I bought was Santa Baby because it was Christmas time when I signed up for itunes. After that, She's So Unusual.
My favorite album growing up was Dark Side of the Moon.

I feel like I'm 12...the first cd I bought with my own money was Sheriee Austin's Words. I adore it still, but it got stolen (ironically) in Sydney a year ago. Of course, there were tapes and other CDs before that (the tapes of the embarassing boy-band phenomenon of the 80's variety), but I still remember the glee of actually buying the album.

My first 45 record that I can remember having was Blondie's "Rapture". I think I was 8 or 9. Loved it then, love it now. My first LP record was "Thriller" - who didn't like that album - especially a kid of the 80's. My first CD I bought when I was about 14, and that was Depeche Mode's "Strangelove" which I still own and listen to every once in a while.

The first cassettes I bought were Ace of Base's The Sign and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (which was surprising poplular with 11-12 year old girls). I can't remember which was first.
Before those I had all the soundtrack cassettes for all of the Disney movies since Beauty and the Beast. My parents gave me my first cd when I was 8 or 9 - The Little Mermaid soundtrack. Of course being that cd players were still fairly expensive I wasn't allowed to use it by myself. 12 years later I'm the only one who knows how to use the darn thing

The first cd I actually bought... I can't remember, but I suspect it may have been by a boy band 
. Thankfully, I finally got over that phase

I use to hug my Thriller album. *sigh*. Ooh, and i rememebr Rapture. Was that the video with a fake street and random cool, edgy, hip hop poeple break dancing and stuff. Kinda like a fashion show?

Too bad it wasn't a George Szell directing. Szell was my great uncle. When I was very young (and willing to prove I could be very quiet), I was allowed to sit in Severence Hall whilst the Orchestra practiced.

i have had the chance to hear the cleveland orchestra play (live of course) twice. once in blossom and once in severance hall (when i was in college in cleveland). i got cheap tickets for the severance hall performance through my music class. absolutely wonderful.

What a joy! I grew up in Miami, Oklahoma. Classical music wasn't big there. My Father listened to a 78 rpm record of Mario Lanza singing the music from the movie, "The Great Caruso". He belonged to a Columbia club for a while adding to our meager supply of classical music. I took a music appreciation class and heard the Beethoven recording. I think I was 15 before I heard the 9th Symphony for the first time.
So much beautiful music so little time!
