I have yet to see the film, but I have to ask you guys who are bad-mouthing the movie, why it has clearly been a hit if its as bad as you claim?

Oh, dude. If you didn't like The Grudge you'll hate The Forgotten. I saw it and it was cool to a point (maybe only one point), but utterly disappointing. Here's the lowdown if you dare to penetrate the spoiler cloak:

Aliens. It was aliens. The whole freakin' mystery twist was about them doing experiments on us. Like I said, cool to a point but utterly disappointing. Once you see it you'll understand.

I didn't mind the Grudge, but the Forgotten was horrid. The Grudge had no plot just a monster, the Forgotten had a lame

You're all crazy. Sorry, that's how I feel. The chill bump factor was at an all time high because the same creepy-ass scares were repeated. I thought it was better than The Exorcist: The Beginning. I even thought it was better than The Ring. My logic is that you didn't have to wait for the entire course of the movie for the one scary moment. And come on, you want to argue PLOT with a horror movie? It's all about the scare, hence SCARY MOVIE. When I watch one I'm not paying attention to the dramatic depth of the actors or actresses involved. And you can't argue Buffy or Angel with me because those aren't "horror" as much as they are "drama set in a horror setting". Sorry. Light me.

I have to agree with you. I thought the Grudge was pretty scary (though I do have a thing against dead things, especially dead things that move, so it targetted my weakness). The plot was very simple, a curse on a house affects all who enter it, end of story.
While not as good as say, 'The Changeling' or 'Stir of Echoes' it was way better than any Jason, Freddy, Michael or Leatherface movie.
I wish some of the critics here would put forward 'good' horror movies for people to use as a reference point.

With all due respect, that's wrong. A movie is considered a failure if it doesn't make a profit, and The Grudge has made a profit. So far it has made 71.3 million dollars, yet it only cost 10 million to make.
And a -42.8% fall off from the opening weekend is rather normal.

Well, I've now seen the original version of this film and yeah at points it's a little unnerving, and a few really nice touches too but not scary, too much of the same thing and a little to much like the Ring in places. And I've learned from The Ring - the originals are always better. And apparently Tom Cruise bought the rights to The Eye, which really made me jump the first time I saw it - its got some really nice moments that'll make you jump. Why I'm asking myself, do they need to remake a perfectly good film?
