Sorry Sigs and Wish and others.....
There was a time when i would put a ridiculous thread, and/or a thread about NES music that I loved, and it would disappear in 2 or 3 days here.....
Now I put a new thread when I'm blind drunk, and 2-3 weeks later it's still in the top newest threads when I come back.
Shit....
This really sucks.....
I'm turning 36 next week.....
Nathan and most of the original FF crew will be 40 or near that age soon....
At best, we were part of something that will hopefully become a "cult phenomenon" in the vein of Stanly Kuberick's Clockwork Orange.
I fucking hate that movie and anything with hardcore violence for no reason, so I'd rather compare us to those who had a hard core love for Maniquenne 2.
I'm not a fan of mindless indulgence at 36 years old, but truth be told I was about 11 when I saw this in the theatres and i sat there with a hard-core boner for Kristy Swanson for nearly two hours.
Don't hate on me..........
Kristy Swanson was the original Buffy....
Bitches. ;)

and because it was the theme song for the first movie, they bombarded us with the last like 4 seconds of the preview here, they showed "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", on the preview video.....
Nobody is buying it. It's like suspending belief to the extent that you believe that Kim Cattrel was still even remotely sexy in 1998 when "Sex in the City" first aired, let alone being so deluded as believing that she's even human today after all of the facial work....
She really was something back when I was 10 years old and saw Maniquenne for the first time though.
If it's any consolation prize, the only thing I ever seen the main guy from that movie on in the last 10 years was the bad guy in a great episode of "MONK". He is a much better actor, but he disappeared in Hollywood since he didn't have the sex draw after he reached 20 years old (after Weekend and Bernies 2).
I'm glad that Kim Kattrel could make some money late in her Hollywood life, but she's no K. Bates. It takes a VERY special woman to enthrall an audience with absolutely zero sex appeal, and she just doesn't have it.
As As terrible as this this scene is, .......
I'd live through it 10,000 times rather than live through the first season of Sex in the City......
Do Right, Be Right. :)

Why has God forsaken us? -- Deuteronomy 31:8
Fans are not here at RWED because neither Joss nor Zack Whedon are writing Serenity comics. Instead, Joss is writing Twist, “with the most personal question that can be put to us, which is why isn’t there a Victorian female Batman?” www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jul/14/joss-whedon-returns-comics-twist

At least somebody is still drawing Firefly. This was posted online today.

I have a feeling when Con Men gets out we will just become a big joke.
Yeah, I think it's over.

Quote:Con Man raised $3,156,069. Money is a problem with Firefly. It's a million dollars an episode to pay the hundred people listed in the credits. On the other hand, comics only need half a dozen people. And the one writer doesn't need to be Joss. But it's been years since he wrote a Buffy or an Angel. Or even a Firefly, possibly because Firefly comics don't make enough money.

It looks like there were only 42,000 diehard fans of Firefly in North America. www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2014.html
Issue #1 sold for 4 months until it was selling too few to bother reporting. Issues #2 and 3 sold for 3 months. Issue #4 for 2 months. Issues #5 and 6 for 1 month. That would discourage Joss from even bothering thinking about working on Firefly.

Not everybody that likes FF likes comics. I bought them "just because" but wouldn't for anything else.
Not to mention, a LOT of the people who come here -and I've talked to hundreds over the years- have NO IDEA there WERE comics. If I hadn't found this place by accident ten years ago, I wouldn't have known, either.
I don't think comic sales are the full representation of our diversity.
I mean $3 mil is nothing to sneeze at.

It is about the comics.
The second entry for firefly on bing.com and yahoo.com is about the comics.
The third entry for firefly on duckduckgo.com is about the comics.
Joss will make more money by not making more Firefly comics for people who won't buy them. But he might start an indiegogo campaign like Con Man. www.indiegogo.com/projects/con-man#/story
That way he knows for sure he gets paid well enough. He puts the me in mercenary.

You REALLY think everyone works or should work the way you operate don't you?
The show has been dead over TEN years. Most people would have no reason to go looking for more material. The comics didn't even come out for several years after... I think we've done well to get people to watch the series, not even to make the connection that there's a movie.
You vastly overestimate the general publics' attention span on ANY one thing.
