Chapter 4 Why can't things ever go smooth?

Mal, Zoë, and Jayne weren't due back on Serenity for at least another hour, so Simon and River decided to find Kaylee to share the news of River's pregnancy. They were half way to the engine room when Wash's voice came over the comm, "Simon, get your medkit. You're needed in the cargo bay."

Simon rushed to the nearest comm unit and asked, "Who's hurt? How badly?"

"Don't know. Jayne just said they're on their way and should be here in less than five minutes."

"I'm on my way." Simon turned to River, intending to tell her to go to Kaylee, but she was already on her way back to the infirmary. Wanmei,

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! *hugs*

I really have fun writing all the BDH's, so it's good to know I'm keeping them in character. *g*

Loved it and I do so agree with Simon's sentiments, there is nothing easy about seeing those you love hurt or in pain. Can't wait for the next part and what Mal and Simon have to say to each other once the medication wears off. Ali D :~)

Thanks, Ali! I figure it's got to be hard for Simon to be as detached as he needs to be when working on crew/family. Glad you think I got it right!

Oh...this is gonna bring on the fun times;)

I love how you had Simon react the way he did with Mal being the one hurt and Simon having to perform surgery on Mal before having a meltdown in private!

And Mal's drug-clouded thoughts? But funny and perfect for the moment, Lvs2read:)
