Chapter 6 Mal's reaction

Mal looked stunned. "Are you sure? I thought she just…I mean, it's always taken longer to be sure she wasn't pregnant. How can you be sure she is so quickly?"

"Yes, Mal, I'm sure. She came into the infirmary while you were gone, and told me the procedure had succeeded. We did the proper medical tests, and she's pregnant." Simon smiled gently at Mal.

"River's pregnant. We're gonna be parents. I can't hardly believe it. We're gonna be parents, Simon!" The longer Mal talked, the more excited he became, until he suddenly reached up and pulled Simon down for a long, tender kiss. Unfortunately, he then tried to pull Simon into a hug using his injured arm. "Ow! Gorram it! Wish I hadn't been shot!"

"So do I, love. Maybe you'll remember this the next time?" Simon couldn't resist teasing Mal just a bit as he cuddled against Mal's side.

"Bì zuǐ. What happens now?"

"Now we spend the next nine months waiting, just like every other parent-to-be. And you try not to be over-protective.

Hmm, difficult to wrap my head around this pairing, but its not too bad, really.

I just hope it won't be too hard for River to give up the baby when the time comes but I see her as being so selfless she won't see it as a loss of a child but the gaining of more kinfolk. Plus I think it will help with everybody still being on the ship so the 'family' of Serenity will continue to grow, love and prosper. Ali D :~)

lvs2read, I was unable to reply to your email querying the loss of my website (http://carlajane.50megs.com/Ali00). My weblady has been in touch to say that the site has been pulled by 50megs, the reason is that the lady who hosts my site has a couple of others and one of the other sites has received a lot of complaints regarding contents. 50megs had therefore pulled all the sites including mine. Carla Jane who runs the site is hoping to find another home and is in talks with a contact in Finland. Once I have a new home I will amend the site details on my profile and let everyone know. Luckily most of my Firefly fic is on this site. In the meantime, I am enjoying your shiny stories so keep writing, *dong ma*? Ali D :~)
