Beginning with my last story 'All Good Things Must Come to an End' and continuing to the end of this series, there will be a common theme contained throughout the ongoing story.

It deals with the topic of rape. I urge you not to read if you don't think you can handle such an offensive and controversial subject.

I've truly tired of looking at this specific story so I decided to post it so that I could move on and get to the rest of the stories in the series.

Thanks for the great support while I've been writing this. It's not an easy topic but it is a real world one.

People handle this type of trauma in different ways, and I really wanted to explore what would happen if it happened to someone in the Firefly 'verse.

As always, please let this play out to its end. Right now there are quite a few stories left in this series. You may be surprised, or not, where it ends up leading.

And - for those who I know will ask - Don't worry, Inara will spill it all eventually, just not all at once.

I knew it was coming.. but so sad to think that Inara's been through this before... and now she's sufferin' over the secrets she's kept from Kaylee... it's sparin' her a lot of pain, but I have a feeling it may be the wrong decision in the end... I hope Inara confides in Mal soon... she deserves his support and healing...

Wow, this made me sad and happy all at the same time! The Zoe and Jayne discussion are just wonderful , I liked Zoe's observations on Simon. It made me sad when I read the lines about Shepard Book and Kaylee during their conversation. The Simon and Kaylee scene, heart wrenching and tender, just lovely. I loved the Mal/Inara interaction at the beginning. It feels like their relationship is progressing nicely, which is so yay! River's support in the captain's plan just makes me wonder how bad Badger is going to get it! And I love that Harrow is helping. He is one of my fav guest actors, and I did like his interaction with Mal and Inara in the show, funny but still serious. Great Job!!!!! As always, you know I love your work and can't wait for your next post!

Awesome - as I have told you before. I know I keep using the same adjective, but it's the only one that comes to mind. Your treatment of both Simon and Kaylee's pain and apprehension as well as their longing to get "back to normal" is unbelievable and I really love how Zoe and Jayne are ready to knock some heads together.

But I agree with 2x2, Inara needs to come clean - all the way - with everyone!

That was me up there!

Giving it a nine, but only because it's too damn short. You're really, really making me struggle having to wait for each of the installments to come. :)

All in all, a fine tale is being weaved here! A little more of Inara/Mal would be super, but I know you'll get around to it, so I'm not worried.

Your development of Jayne and Zoe is fantastic, it's exactly how they would react to a situation like this. You've captured it perfectly.

I also I'm very impressd by your interpretation of Simon, it's perfect. His angsty worrying and the like really got to me... in a good way.

I'm loving this, and I can't wait to read what you're going to write next. Hopefully some more info on what's going on with Inara. *hint hint* :)

Keep up the shiny work!

I think you're pacing these very well; all these revelations and realizations would take time.

Glad Kaylee was able to face her fears and be intimate with Simon. I love how he was with her: sweet and understanding. It must have killed him to watch her sobbing while they made love, but he stayed strong and was there for her. That's Simon.

As for Mal and Inara--ahhh I wish she'd tell him. Honestly I think the man's in denial. Seeing her room torn up, all the blood--he must suspect on some level. Is Inara's earlier rape gonna connect with that secret syringe I hope?

More soon, k?

These are some realy dark stories. A good read with with a fine touch on all the charecters voices.Inara's not telling Kaylee is a little disturbing. You cant hide from trauma you have to confront it eventualy. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Thank you for these stories.

>You cant hide from trauma you have to confront it eventualy.

It will happen. There are another few stories to go before Kaylee discovers what really happened.

I've already written it, and it was really disturbing for me, so I can only imagine what it will be like for you all to read.

>Giving it a nine, but only because it's too damn short

This one was 10 pages! Some other chapters will be shorter.

>As for Mal and Inara--ahhh I wish she'd tell him

Mal learns everything, just not all at one time.

>A little more of Inara/Mal would be super

Well, there is a lot of Mal in the next chapter, and a pissed off Jayne. Badger bits, anyone...? :)

Gee, I really am starting to hate this Badger fella. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Simon hurt the bastard!!! I wont beg, but...oops, just did. Great fic here, but its TOO DAMN SHORT BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...!!!!!!!!....

Well...damn, Leiasky...this was some mighty good heart-tugging you pulled off:)

I really liked both the Mal/Inara and Simon/Kaylee relationship scenes. Completely in character and showing evolution from how they would have acted in the past (i.e. Mal being more accepting of Inara needing to heal without him constantly around; Simon keeping on target with helping Kaylee deal with her dreams and fears).

Cannot wait for the next installment...but it's gonna be around the same length or shorter? Really like stretching things out, huh?

> I want to see Badger get his

He's in the next story :)

>gonna be around the same length or shorter? Really like stretching things out, huh?

Some will be shorter than others. And some will have multiple chapters.

For example, the big discovery/blowup story has 4 chapters. And if you thought this story was emotional - hmm, that 4 parter dwarfs this by a bundle.

I think there are 6 stories left in the series, but nearly all of them have multiple chapters.

Again, beautifully done. I really loved the Zoe/Jayne interaction and Zoe's observation regarding Simon.

Simon and Kaylee making love, and how Simon supported Kaylee's recovery thru their love making was handled very well. My heart breaks for Kaylee and Inara when Inara's lie to protect Kaylee comes to light.

As for updates and length of chapter, I keep expecting to have to wait a few days between updates, so it always comes as a welcome surprise when I see your chapters sooner than I anticipated. (And I am a totally update/story whore!! I get so petulent when waiting for new stories and updated chapters!! Completely selfish of me, but I really love this verse and we were so horrible cheated out of stories by its cancellation.

Great job!

“Simon may surprise you. He may surprise us all one day.” She knew, when push came to shove, Simon would exhibit life-altering behavior to exact revenge on the person that orchestrated the attack on his home and his family. Somewhere deep inside, she hoped he got his chance. And she hoped she was standing right beside him when it happened.

Its not Simon with a gun that scares me... Its what Simon can do that WON'T kill you. Now that worries me.

That last paragraph...awesome

"And she had killed the most recent, a most permanent form of retribution."
Excellent line!

That 'orrible cunt Badger needs to be skinned alive and boiled in oil.

Good Jayne line:
"Oh, yeah he will. No one forgets it when my fist hits their face.”

After the Badger-hunt, Jayne and Zoe just need to head to his bunk, get some other stuff taken care of for both of them, if only once.

Jayne snarled and sat up, following Zoe’s eyeline. “Girl’s changed too much. She deserves the first shot at thems that did this.”
I agree.

nothin' more i can say that i didn't already. but still (if you don't mind me repeating myself) great characterization, great story, and great connection with what really happens in these situations. i'm glad kaylee's healing, but i can just imagine how what inara will eventually tell her will stop and maybe even reverse that healing again.

oh and i agree with river about the jayne line! loved that one!
