The music continued well into the night as Simon drowned his annoyance at Jayne’s good fortune at the bottom of an earthen mug filled, as the night went on, with more and more alcohol.
After Mal had left them alone, Kaylee had scooted closer and Simon had a difficult time controlling – well – everything. They laughed and joked like he’d always wanted as his inhibitions melted away.
He wasn’t sure which one of them had leaned forward first, but all of a sudden she was in his lap and they were kissing passionately. His hands held her cheeks, pulling her deeper against his mouth and her hands were everywhere, inflaming every bit of skin that they touched.
Kaylee rolled her hips against Simon’s and was rewarded with a long, low groan. After his tongue had thoroughly plundered her mouth, his lips slid to her neck and urgently kissed along the smooth skin.
“Hey!” the bartender stood over them, glaring. “We gots rooms for that!”
Kaylee swayed in Simon’s lap as she looked up at the annoyed man and when Simon pulled his mouth away from her neck, his eyes crossed as they tried to focus on the bartender.
Kaylee only managed an excited nod, slid off Simon’s lap and pulled him to his feet. With one arm around his waist to keep him upright, she reached into his pants pocket, pulled out a few coins and tossed them at the bartender. Then she took Simon’s hand and dragged him toward the stairs.
“This won’t buy ya but an hour! Best be done by then!”

That, and I needed a break from writing the angsty next parts of my series.
