Part II

Kaylee stared at the doorway for a long minute before Inara appeared at her side. She put a comforting arm around the mechanic’s shoulders and began to lead her out of the room but Kaylee shook free of her arm and whirled on Jayne.

“Ya had ta do that, didn’t ya? Had ta cause problems? Why can’t ya just be happy for us and leave Simon alone?”

“I ain’t the one that lied, sweetheart.” Jayne started sharpening his knife, unconcerned with the teary tone in her voice.

“Why you gotta be mean to Simon all the time? He ain’t done nothin’ to you.” Kaylee turned around and hurried out of the room before any tears slipped down her cheeks.

Inara shot Jayne a scathing look that made him consider taking all of his toys and returning to his bunk to hide. Her gaze softened a bit as it landed on Mal, but she still shook her head and followed Kaylee out of the room.

“That prissy boy don’t belong here and everyone knows it.” Jayne finally said once Kaylee had gone.

“Doc’s got a place on this boat same as you, Jayne.” Mal finally said, trying to decide the best course of action now that the ship’s resident happy couple had had their first serious spat. “You’d be dead a few times over weren’t for him.”

Jayne stared at Mal and quickly shot back, “Yeah, I’d have a few less scars and bullet holes weren’t for him an his crazy sister bein’ on this boat too.”

“Leave Simon and Kaylee alone, Jayne. I mean it.” Mal shook his head and walked back toward the bridge muttering something beneath his breath about shipboard relationships.

Zoe glanced casually at the scraps of paper again, recognizing Jayne’s large, bold handwriting compared to Kaylee’s more delicate script, and then back at Jayne.

Jayne didn’t bother to look up but he could feel the smirk spreading across her face.

“No wonder you’re angry,” Zoe said as she left the room.

“Kaylee?” Inara stepped cautiously into the engine room, looking around for the ship’s resident mechanic. She could hear tinkering coming from the ba

Aw.

Well, it's semi-happy. They'll fix it. I know they will. ^_^ Kaylee means well, she'd never do anything to intentionally hurt him...or anyone, for that matter.

I have loved every part of these stories. I hope that Simon can trust Kaylee again so it doesn't have to start from the begaining of their relationship to get back to what it was before this thing with Jayne happened. Also I hope that Simon will be able to make love to Kaylee without thinking that she would go and do it again. That's just not Kaylee. At least he was able to take his shirt off her so that's one step.

Please update soon.

Making up is very sweet. Poor Kaylee, she meant well!

Thank goodness he didn't kick her out, I'd have never forgiven him. :)

beautiful! I agree that it's more likely than okay we're done *big sexin* cause trust me, i've still been grumpy after workin things out with my bf before heh.

but at least Simon realizes she meant well, so it shouldn't take too long before normal sexin' resumes!! :)

Love is a wonderful thing till ya start having less than pleasant feelings for your significant other.

Would imagine Simon's all pained and confused about how he wants to forgive and forget knowing that Kaylee was just trying to deal with a problem in her usual way, but....the trust issue still sits there. I would assume this situation's getting added to the "Simon Tam Scrapbook of Broken Trust" as an accompaniment to the lost trust in his parents, the Alliance and who knows what else:(

Still...excellent work so far:)

“No wonder you’re angry,” Zoe said as she left the room.

Short and sweet, definitely good on Zoe, though I do notice she has more of a minor role in your story (I have a problem writing for her myself without making her dark and morbid like me, wait a minute, that might work.)

The accents/inflections from Kaylee are really good too.

“Never go to bed angry. If you have to stay up all night fighting and yelling, do it. But get it all out before you go to bed.”
We tried that rule. Didn't always follw it so well though.
