Part 1
Jayne lumbered into the kitchen just as Kaylee stood beside the table, smiling that sickening just-got-laid smile into her water glass.
They’d missed breakfast – again – but it didn’t matter. Kaylee was just going to get some water, maybe a protein bar to share with Simon and go back to bed. There wasn’t anything that needed done right away this morning. And if there was, Kaylee knew the Captain knew where to find them.
“Amazin’ the doc can keep ya so well sexed bein’ as little as he is.” Jayne muttered as he sat down at the table and started pulling out his equipment.
Kaylee stared at him for a long moment, eyes flicking down at the guns he carefully laid out at the end of the table. She’d grown used to Jayne’s comments but this time, after being happily sexed all morning, the comment annoyed her in a disturbing way. “Why you gotta put Simon down all the time?”
Jayne tilted his head as he examined the barrel of one of the smaller guns. “Well – you’re right. Ain’t his fault he’s little.”
Kaylee’s normally cheerful face scrunched into a frown. “That ain’t so, Jayne.”
“Sure it is. He –“
Kaylee leveled a happy smile at the mercenary. “Ain’t sm

P.S. Can't wait for the next part.
I want to read part II, very quickly. How can Simon really moved past this? It's not like Jayne's gonna forget ...
Well, I never really come out and SAY that. And there is length and girth to be measured, Kaylee only did one of the two . . .
>I honestly can't believe Kaylee would think it would okay to share "that" of all things with Jayne ... she has to know better than that!
Remember, she's very sexually open with everyone. Not much embarrasses her. And she felt she was doing it for the right reasons (tired of Simon being picked on all the time). Which is true. Simon's reaction was because she lied to him when wanting the information.
>I want to read part II, very quickly.
There are 3 parts to this one. I'll post one part per day.
>How can Simon really moved past this?
That was my dilemma when writing this, and it probably ends up being the weakest part of the story - but the readers will decide, I suppose.
>It's not like Jayne's gonna forget ...
Jayne isn't gonna be mentioning his little embarrassing part in it. Being shot down by 'little' Simon was a blow to his ego he won't soon forget, or want to talk about anytime soon.
Ok, I'm shameless.
I'll be in his bunk!
Looking forward to chapter 2!

I really feel for Simon cuz I identify with him rather strongly at times (feel like the outsider sometimes in my life). The kind of trust needed to allow your girlfriend (or boyfriend) to measure ya during an intimate moment is a deep one...on par with trying out various positions and fetishes (I assume). Having the info shared with a guy like Jayne Cobb without your permission would be the ultimate in embarassment. Regardless of the fact that Simon outclasses Jayne in length (not all brainiacs are limp-dicked, thank you).
On the flipside, Jayne getting his ego smacked down in a public forum just ain't cricket. Regardless of how much of an ass Jayne is, no one really deserves to get that kind of revelation aired to the public (here represented by the crew). Maybe our favourite merc and doctor can hash out their problem and pay Kaylee back....properly (i.e. nothing that will cause lasting hurt, but something that could show Kaylee how much of a violation she incurred).

You feel soffy for Jayne? *gawk* The man-ape willingly wrote his measurement and dropped it on the table. He was obviously confident he was going to win his little bet with Kaylee.
Love the characterization, of everyone, especially Simon. Brilliant!

Mal's reaction, borrowed from the Pilot, was incredibly appropriate.
When I get to the end of your series, I will probably bug you non-stop to keep writing more.
