“I wanna hear the fight!” Jayne leapt to his feet and started toward the passenger dorms.

Mal’s hand on the taller man’s shoulder stopped him in his tracks. “You leave those two alone, Jayne, hear me?”

“Like you did?” Inara stood with her hands on her hips, glaring at Mal.

Mal returned the glare with equal heat. “Hey! Alls I said was –“

“No babies on your ship, yes, we heard,” River finished for him, standing and putting her bowl in the sink for washing later.

Mal scowled at River. “You were havin’ your own little argument with that stubborn brother of yours. How’d you hear what –“

River rolled her eyes. “You think louder than you speak.”

“I don’t know about that, River,” Inara stared at Mal. “He speaks pretty loud.”

Mal turned toward Inara and started explaining in every little minute detail, that they’d already heard once this morning, why he didn’t want any babies on his boat.

Zoe shook her head and left the room, heading for the relative peace and quiet of her bunk. Mal and Inara’s arguments had been heated recently and she knew, she just knew, when they finally snapped, they’d be worse than Simon and Kaylee during their first week together. And she didn’t want to see Mal reduced to

OMG!!!! Yay!!! I love it! Mal and Inara ,finally!!!!
Both of them ending a fight with a kiss, maybe women are much simpler creatures then we let on to be.
I love the comraderie between Jayne and River, what little voyers they are!
Zoe's observations about Mal and Inara being worse than Kaylee and Simon their first week together had me cracking up!
Great chapter and I am so anxious to read your next post!!!

Why did their arguments always feel like foreplay to him? Only without the big payoff at the end.

“Don’t expect a kiss will end every argument, Malcolm Reynolds.”

haha i love jayne and river sneaking around spying on everyone. something tells me a big space wedding is on the way. keep it up!

Oh...this is music to my ears....Simon and Kaylee at least starting to hash out the issue of children in the future...Mal and Inara FINALLY getting to the conscious kissing stage...and Jayne and River spying on everyone...pre-Rayne perhaps?

;)

Leiasky, you consisantly are knocking these puppies out of the park. A mite intimindatin' for wannabe authors....but that's okay:)

I love this one, although poor Simon - he just can't figure out exactly what to say. River's comment to Jayne was hi-larious. And of course, Mal/Inara goodness.

Keep 'em coming!

>Jayne and River spying on everyone...pre-Rayne perhaps?

While I'm not completely opposed to that pairing, I won't be writing about it.

>Leiasky, you consisantly are knocking these puppies out of the park.

Hmm, thanks for the praise. Though, you may not feel the same way after a few more installments.

>something tells me a big space wedding is on the way.

Well - if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it? :)

> Simon needs to hurry up and propose to make Kaylee happy. You KNOW it's coming!!

Well - perhaps at some point. Angst coming next. . . because we all know real life is never stable and happy. . .

“He knocks her up, that’s boy’s gonna marry Kaylee if Jayne has to stand behind him with Vera pointed at his back!”
Excellent line.

Mal’s eyes followed her, his heart beating so rapidly, he could only stand there and grin stupidly. “No. But it’s a damn good start.”
Another wonderful line.

I like River and Jayne hanging out together (not a fan of Rayne one way or the other, but it's like they are becoming bood friends).
