Mal rolled over, groaning as his senses took in the overwhelming feminine scent of the pillow on which, up until a few moments ago, his face had been buried. He opened his eyes and squinted up at the ceiling, soft wisps of material catching the corner of his eye. He sat up suddenly, and then clutched his swimming head. His vision blurred for a moment and he blinked rapidly to clear it.
“Good morning.” Inara said with a smile.
Mal squinted at her and, for a moment longer than it would have been if he weren’t suffering from a hangover, let his eyes travel down the length of her. He swallowed reflexively and rubbed his head. “What the hell happened?”
Inara sat beside him on the bed. “You drank a little too much last night.”
“That much is obvious.”
“You weren’t going to make it down to your bunk so I let you sleep here rather than on a cold grate in the middle of a hallway.”
“How – kind.”
Inara shoved the cup into his hands. “Oh drink this ya big baby. You’re not dying.”
“Feels like someone split my head in two.”
“I’m sure Simon can give you something for the pain.” The amusement in Inara’s voice was evident and Mal scowled at her.

“Mal!” Inara thought she could hear a jealous undertone in his voice.

Kaynara - the Mal/Inara was just for you since you wanted more:) There will be more. It'll be buried in all the S/K fun (because they are the easiest for me to write) but it'll be there.
