Episode four of my second season of Firefly: While killing time when Inara attends to business on a Core world, the crew comes across a damaged ship drifting in space. Investigating leads to a confrontation with pirates over a piece of stolen cargo that's very important to the Alliance.

Disclaimer: If I weren't just a poor college student and could finance the series myself, I would, but I can't. So all I can do is just play around in Joss Whedon's 'verse. Also, I don't know a lick of Chinese so I haven't bothered to put the translations because they're probably horribly wrong. If it were Japanese or Latin, well, that'd be another story...

Sweat beaded the brow of Simon Tam as he worked under the hot light of the infirmary. He quickly wiped at it with his forearm, never taking his eyes from the subject lying on the table. This needed to be perfect, but every move he made seemed like a tiny disaster. The infirmary was a mess of red, and Simon no longer thought he could salvage the appearance of his patient. His hands had never failed him in such a way, and failure in general was something Simon wasn't used to. He tossed the surgically sharp shears onto the nearby tray and stepped back. There had to be a way he could fix things.
"Doing it all wrong," said River from the door, startling Simon so bad he practically tipped over the tray.
"River!" Simon admoninshed in an out of breath voice. River Tam walked into the infirmary, dressed in her typical flowing dress and barefeet, and looked sadly down at the operating chair. "It's awful, I know. I just couldn't..."
With a pained sigh, River reached down to examine the patient herself. Simon winced over the sharp tearing sound that filled the confined space, and he cringed at the sight that was revealed. It was horrific. River didn't seemed perturbed by it in the least, however. She simply dragged the tray over towards her and set to work. Throughout the second phase of the operat

Delineating between the Alliance and Blue Sun is a great idea. I know Joss had planned to delve into this concept on the series at one point or another, but alas, the inmates running the FOX asylum intervened.
The Alliance, for all its incompetent Big Brother-ness, is still run by taxes, and is still answerable to its constituents. Blue Sun, on the other hand, is in the unique position of being as rich as the Alliance, but without all those pesky checks and balances that keep a government from going too far overboard. Hmm, methinks there might be dissension in the ranks there sooner or later...
One last thing.
Not to sound greedy or anything, but what is your posting schedule for the rest of these? How many are there? Are they going to come in spurts like tonight, or are you going to start turning them out one at a time?
Yeah, that's where I was thinking Whedon might go with Blue Sun, but I just threw in the Rebellion to make it an interesting head-to-head-to-head.
Haha, and it's okay to sound greedy. Gives more motivation to do them. I don't know how many more there are, but I do have a story arc. I don't have a posting schedule, but I just write in my spare time, and post when I have time to revise. Is there one you prefer?
I'm not normally one for reading a lot about OC's but this one is very well done and well established.
Being a Simon and Kaylee fan I had to really struggle hard to get over the issues Simon has tho'. While I can understand that he does have that proper Core breeding getting in his way, I think, after 8 + months on Serenity, some of that properness would have fallen by the wayside.
I think its pretty obvious what his gift is, I do hope you get to it soon so we can see everyone's reaction :)
Simon's being upset that River has found someone seems well done.
I'm definitely looking forward to more installments. Don't keep us waiting too long, K? :)

So, now that you posted four at once, it is going to take very long to see episode 5?
However, I thank you for making the pain of my Serenity DVD not being delivered on time slightly more bearable.
Your original characters are well developed with plenty of mysteries but still do not overshadow any of the crew we love so well. Your character interactions are scripted perfectly. I particularly like your River.
It was nice to be treated to so many chapters in one go but i'm now very worried that we won't see another for months. Please don't leave us hanging!

It won't take long for episode 5...I hope. Especially since I'm working on it as I type this comment, haha. I'm thinking I definetely won't wait until I write more. I'll post episode five as soon as I finish with it.
So, since you asked my opinion earlier, just continue to post episodes as you write them. I'll look forward to every single one. :)
