Synopsis: A continuation of the brief little scene we saw in Serenity. Simon and Kaylee finally - come together.

Kaylee brushed the back of her hand across her forehead as she finished checking to make sure everything was in working order. She stood up from the small space she’d been wedged into and stretched, straightening the cramped muscles. A small appreciative smile crept across her face as she watched Simon a few steps away tightening a bolt over his head.

They’d been working for hours in various parts of the engine room, readying Serenity for takeoff. But it was time for a break. Kaylee swept her eyes down his handsome body and sauntered over to him. It had gotten increasingly warmer while they worked so close to the various machines and he had removed his shirt a good while ago; only following her example when she’d shed her canvas vest. Various portions of his torso were smudged with grease, and his normally neat, kept hair hung over his eyes, giving him a rakishly handsome look.

When she reached out and touched his bare shoulder, he turned, giving her a smile that instantly made her weak in the knees. He dropped his arm as she stepped closer.
