Steve, it’s mostly because I had two pictures of her and possibly just a bit because she seemed like someone River would like. Someone who would understand her. Someone who would dote on her and make her big meals. In return River would be the kind of child Early’s mum would want. River would still be nutty, like Early, but she wouldn‘t torture puppy dogs. That golden retriever would probably love her.

The blue coloration goes well with River. Symbolic of BLUE Sun Corp? I wonder if the presence of a pet would help to stabilize River's psyche? Or would River injure or kill pet in schizoid ep? Hmmmm.

Pardon, but if I'm not mistaken, that picture isn't Mrs. Early. It was his neighbor. Didn't River say how he hurt his neighbors dog?
