This is shot from just to the left of the doorway, right? In the back corner, there are those two things that look like windows, but they have nowhere to look out on. Does anyone know what those are?

Yeah, I thing you go the position right.
The POV (Point Of View) is from fore/port and looking to somewhere around 45 degrees to starboard/aft.
The windows actually look out at the stair going up to the next level.
Check out the Firefly Serenity Floorplan pic and you'll see what I mean.
When Kaylee was shot, Jayne was on the platform looking thu the upper part of the window. Or he was on the paltform going to the cargo bay ... I need to look at it again.

I see what you mean, with the stairs curving around the aft/starboard corner, but I assumed that the staircase would already be above the level of the windows by that point. Perhaps there's just another niche back there, since Fireflies are supposed to have so many of those.
Jayne was looking in from the stairs between the common area and the cargo bay (
) Is it just me, or did Kaylee paste a sunflower decal on the window (top right corner). Anyway, it seems there's *another* set of windows there. Hmm. Maybe I should just go watch a few more episodes to check. Such a trial, right? ;)
Since I forgot to say so before, thanks for all the screencaps you've put up. They're all really helpful.
