Wow, that is really cool. But... what is it? I mean, yeah, you said what it is, but is it artwork or an actual prop or just a display or wha...? And what's it for? I guess I need more exposition.
I'm beginning to think, Zol, that all the cool things are over by you.

It`s a life size Martian Fighting Machine - solid structure/art - for more details goto - http://www.cix.co.uk/~sjbradshaw/martian/ for full details and more pics (but not mine)
Darin (Zol.)
p.s. it took me ages to find out where this was, I`ve got my new collectors edition of Jeff Waynes Musical War of the Worlds - it`s Fantastic! 6x CD`s & 1x DVD full of wonderful remastered & rare stuff - worth the money & of course I met Jeff Wayne on the 25th June who signed it for me when I bought it!

Woking U.K.
This is where the first martians landed in H.G. Well's original story (W.O.O.W.)
I suspect it's a statue/tribute to
the above.

oh and strictly speaking - the martians landed in Horsell Common sandpits - just down the road (very pretty if you get to go - weird orangey-yellow sand - watch ouy for the angry wood-ants though, they'll take your arm off!)
But the first thing the martians stomped on was Woking - I think perhaps HG Wells didn't like my little town at all! Zol, did you take any pics of the big plane on a stick ?

Wow, that is wild. And a bit freaky. It looks like it's just about to pounce or those tentacle thingies are going to snake down and grab someone's poodle. Freaky.
