Thanks :)
I first found this site a year ago after seeing my first episode and wanted to find out more about firefly.
I've since got the dvds and i'm hooked.
Anyway i'm planning on using this model in a couple of animated shorts sort of telling the story of the serenity before she was bought by mal.

This is awesome! I'm just entering the field of 3d modeling and animation, and I'm impressed. I hope you'll post more "sneak previews" like this, showing your progress!

If it would help ppl learn id be more than happy to.
I've done a fair bit in the last few hours, so ill post a picture of the latest model soon.
The main thing is... don't be intimidated! :) most of what you see was constructed using simple geometric shapes that were then extruded/beveled and manipulated until i got the shape i wanted... patience, perseverance and practice... :)

Awesome work. I was contemplating doing the Serenity in Maya but everyone's doing such a nice job in other apps, it'd put mine to shame.

Nice work. And I agree, don't be intimidated. It is amazing what you can make out of simple objects that are tweaked a bit, glued together, etc.

I'll keep an eye on this. I am looking for something cool to make a PC case out of, and Serenity could be doable. Having a nice, virtual model I can referance would be a huge help, moreso in laying out the parts and such.

I just started using 3DS Max, and the whole reason i started learning was to do something like you're doing.

But seriously, I can't use that program for crap, and seeing what you did...DAMN!!! How far are you now??? That's absolutely amazingly good. How did you do that? My god..
