DragonFly Assualt Transport

Latest updates for the DragonFly Assault transport.

The DragonFly was used by the independents as an Assault transport, combat medivac and combat supply craft during the Unification war. Cheap tough and rugged they distinguished themselves in various conflicts, especially in the special forces role, inserting and extracting troops deep behind enemy lines with startlingly few losses.

This Ship is called Shadow, remembering the Alliance destruction of that planet during the unification war.

The modelling is almost done on this. A few embellishments left, and I want to add a small airlock. The internal areas are mostly done (though you can't see them here) with just some minor updates to go. She's mostly rigged for animation and just requires texturing.

Shinyrific, Citizen! Is that all CGI? It looks 100% real world. Very nice design. If FF were still on TV, I could see Joss & Co. using this as a "cousin" ship to a Firefly. Show us the insides.

Oh...this is seriously brilliant, Citizen! I bet the good people of Zoic would be mighty jealous of your work here;)

Gotta question though: does the Dragonfly-class have variable geometry engines like Fireflies? Cuz I would wonder how they land if they don't...

The Engines can rotate 360 degrees, allowing for VTOL take-off and landings, really cool barrel rolls and the odd Crazy Ivan.

At the end of the wings you may notice cones that attach to the engines, these are the motors that swivel the engine pods.

Unlike the FireFly class which has to withdraw it's hydraulics in order to allow the thrusters to swivel the Dragonfly can do it at a moments notice, allowing it to make combat manurers that even smaller craft would find difficult to keep up with.
